Andy wants tod the winding after each feed and has already agreed to do nappies so that he doesn't feel left out! I think I'm very lucky
My friend bf her little girl for the first year, I do remember her wincing in pain for the first few weeks though and she said maybe I should try using the nipple cream before the baby is even here to help get them ready - does anyone else think that this is worth trying? _________________

leanne im sure it cant do any harm, if you are using a lanolin cream it will probably give them a protective layer so i would try it. i read that in the past people were told to 'toughen' their nipples with toothbrushes before having a baby wouldnt go for that...

sounds like i missed out, i should have held him in to see that class maybe they were specialist nipple models. the nappies arent really that bad its just the screaming that is a bit trying at 3am - you would think we were pulling his legs off not giving him a nice comfy clean nappy!

Did you buy formula just in case? It's just occured to me that I haven't brought any We've got plenty of bottles and an electric steriliser but no formula milk. _________________

i think it was more my own naivety that breastfeeding wouldn't be a problem and i'll carry on regardless! but i know there's a 24 shop not far away..... _________________

maybe but I've been the same. I think if I have formula milk in the cupboard and I end up feeling really stressed I'd be tempted to just make up a bottle, so its probably better for me not to have it at hand _________________

i only bought it cos a friend who had breastfed last year recommended it - i wasnt really sure. i have a couple of ready made cartons of aptimil and a couple of hipp organic (just the little ones) and we had a couple of bottles and some milton for expressing later anyway.
i will say that at 2am when you are really on your last straw and stressed out with a screaming baby, the thought that i could just put him down, go and get a bottle and settle him was really reassuring!
i havent done it, but there is definitely something in knowing that there is an option close at hand, and that i am *choosing* to carry on because thats what i want for my baby i know what you mean about temptation, but i would say its more a reassurance for me
