Can i defer statutory maternity leave?

Post subject: Can i defer statutory maternity leave? I have a baby in hospital who was born at 24 weeks weighing 1lb 1oz. We have been visiting the neo natal unit for over 11 weeks now and I dont want to eat into any more of my maternity leave. Does anyone know if you can freeze/defer a period of maternity so that you can use it when your baby comes out of hospital?

Post subject: I had my baby at 30 weeks and unfortunatly my mat leave started from the day he was born.
Can you call your HR people and double check? Hope lo is doing well and you are? its a very hard time!  _________________
