12 hour flight + transfer with 1 year old

Post subject: 12 hour flight + transfer with 1 year old I really want to visit my family over the summer, but my oh can only get one week off work which won't be eough for us to go together.
Basically, from our house to the airport is a 3 hour train journey with 2 transfers then a 12 hour flight from japan to amsterdam then a transfer from amsterdam to norwich 
Is there any possible way i could do this on my own? My oh could take me as far as the airport this end, then my dad might be able to meet me at amsterdam for that part of the journey, but the thought of going through security alone with a 1 year old plus baggage then being on my own for the whole flight (wouldn't be able to sleep in case milo wandered off somewhere) and how would i go to the toilet? The waiting to get on the plane? Has anyone done anything like this and survived?  _________________

Post subject: When i used to work for airlines we had passenger who were in need of assistance. These could be elderley, handicapped or ladies like yourself who are traveling alone with a child. So you could always request some help when you book and at check in. These passengers were fully escorted from check in (arrange to be taken through at certain time) to the gate, onto the flight, and then escorted onto each connection and then at end of the journey helped through security and baggage (by staff at each airport). I am sure services like this are still in operation. Most airlines try and get passengers travelling with infants bulk head seats too.

Post subject: Sorry for the late reply..I am probably too late but just wanted to reassure you. I live in Japan too and have done this route on my own a few times. It is doable so don`t worry. My son is VERY active and I was able to get to Dublin and then take a 3 hour bus ride up to Belfast.. Good luck and let me know how it goes!!

That gives me a lot of confidence I just keep thinking, he'll have to sleep sometime, so as long as i can get him and the kuggage through we're going to be fine. I hope!
Whereabouts in Japan do you live? I'm in Okayama, really really missing England though,  _________________

I am in Osaka. Yeah, it can be hard here without any family...Do you have help from your in-laws? I would love to hear from you about your life. Maybe we could prepare notes and keep each other sane!! Did you have the baby in Japan? I was too scared at the lack of pain relief so hoofed it home for the birth.. Are you back at work or caring for the baby full time? I am back at work but am not happy with my "new" job....

Post subject: travelling to usa with 1 year old We are flying from Shannon to Heathrow and then to San Francisco with our 1 year old I was just wondering if anyone had any good travel tips for long journeys or if you know the regulations on bringing baby bottles,formula and food.All v confusing!
