I had my son 8 weeks ago today. I had a vaginal birth with 2nd degree tears. I just wondered how long it takes to be pain free? I still feel quite sore at the entrace of my vagina (sorry TMI but has to be said ). It almost feels bruised if touched even from wiping after the loo. Sex of course hurts now because of this . Also sometimes when i stand up or when i go for a wee i get a really heavy feeling down there i know it sounds mad but almost like its going to fall off (cant happen i know but that's the feeling). Has anyone had this and do you think its normal. At my 6 week check up i expressed my concern to my GP and she said as its only a bit painful its fine and when i asked was she going to check down there as i havent had it checked at all since birth she screwed her face up and said no because you arent in alot of pain . Can anyone shed any light on my situation??? Thanks x _________________

I remember this feeling after having stitches and I only had a smallish cut, my midwife said pelvic floor exercises help as they increase the support for the area and increase the blood flow didn't expect it to work but they actually did help . There are some oils now that claim to be able to reduce scar tissue as well but I dont know if you can use them in that area. I did buy an ultrasound pain relief thingy from amazon though that also says it reduces scarring and inflammation they use them for sports injuries Well I dont know about the scarring yet as I haven't had it long enough but it definately works for pain and inflammation though although it was £50 (ouch) I dont see why you couldn't use it down there If it carries on thoiugh I would go back and try and see a different GP and maybe even play it up a bit so they do check as sometimes stitching can have been done too tight or you can get lumpy scars which can make the skin pucker and tighten up and they can correct it xxx

I was sore for a few months too, I had loads of tears and cuts, they were busy stitching me up for at least 5 min, didn't dare ask how many went in
I think if they stitched it a bit tight or if it tore instead of cut it takes a bit longer to heal, but it will get better. It might be a good idea to not have sex in the mean time though, give it a chance to heal. They say that olive oil helps loosen it up too, but never tried it myself. _________________

Thanks for your reply's it's good to know i'm not alone with this. I'm not sure how many stitches i had either and didnt even dare to look down there until 3 weeks after and when i did to be honest it looked like nothing had even happened . I also had grazes whatever they are. As for the GP i would have thought they did check at the 6 week check up to be honest and its not as if its a nice thing to have done but in the name of having things intact down there i wouldn't care . I've been doing pelvic floors too probably not as often as i should be but i will stick at them and see if that helps. Don't seem to be able to hold them for long though . Thanks again for the advice girlys x _________________
