Post subject: Bleeding after birth
Hi ladies,
About how long does bleeding last after birth? I forgot to ask my midwife. I had a c section- not sure if this affects it at all??

I bled for around 3 weeks, but iv heard some women can go on for 6 weeks.

With all of mine it was about 4 weeks. With the first 2 my periods returned after I had stopped breast feeding for about 6 weeks. With this one I literally stopped bleeding for about 4 days and my periods returned. Heavier and longer than ever before!

my 1st i bled for 11 weeks - bit excessive i think, number 2&3 was about 6 weeks and this time about 2!!
so may still b bleedin for a lil while yet - should be starting to get a bit lighter now tho? xxx

Thanks ladies.
It seems to be getting heaps lighter so hopefully will only last a wee while longer. I had read somewhere that it can take longer after a c section- although that didn't make much sense to me!

C-sections they usually can suction out a lot of the after birth. I think you are supposed to bleed lighter and shorter. I gave birth vaginally and bleed 6 weeks after each one.

With my first I bled for over 3 months (i had a pph)
2nd 1 week
3rd 2 days!
