Post subject: Trying to Conceive - being referred

Hello Everyone, Although I have been a member on here for a while I haven't yet posted any messages.

My hubby and I have been trying for a baby for 7 months now and I am getting worried. I am 39 this year so I don't really have yeas to wait. I already have a 14 year old son from a previous marriage and got pregnant with him more or less straight away, so I expected it to be the same this time round. I recently went to see my doctor and I have been referred to gynae at our local hospital. My first appointment is next week and my hubby has got to have a sperm test. I really feel for him and just wondered whether any of you have experienced anything like this. I feel really apprehensive and just hope there are no bad problems. I have just started doing ovulation tests and I don't think I am ovulating. Does anyone know what they will do for ovulation problems?

Hi sarah, just read you post i think its real good that you have been refered so quick, i have been ttc 6 months now and went to my doc last friday only to be told we would have to wait another 6.. and im a 3 years older than yourself, i wouldn't worry about it at lease one way or another you will hopefully get some answers...also on a happy note you aren't that old i had my youngest 22 months ago and my friend now 41 just had a wee boy last week she tried for about 6 month for him. GOOD LUCK and let us now how it all goes.x

Post subject: Trying to conceive - referral
Hi Dory,

Thank you for your message. I have read on loads of information that if you are over 35 and have been ttc for over 6 months you should seek a referral. I am quite nervous about the appointment but it will be interesting to see what they do. I will keep you posted.

It is also really positive to know that there are other people who are my age and older that have conceived. Fingers crossed!!

Maybe you were told to wait another 6 months because you conceived not that long ago. Let me know if you have any news.

Post subject: Trying to Conceive - being referred
Hi there,

It seems that I am quite lucky. I was only referred at the beginning of April and my appointment is next week, my hubby has got to have a test and that is the beginning of May so we haven't had to wait long at all. I have been referred to the Assisted Conception Unit at my local Maternity Hospital. I have started to do Ovulation tests today because I am convinced I am not ovulating. I will let you know what happens at my appointment next week so you know what to expect.

Take Care.

Hi I am 30 my oh is 37, we have been trying for 11 months now, I went in March and got my blood tests done and my oh got his sperm tests within 1 month so both are done and both are fine, have an appointment tomorrow night with a consultant, I am lucky as I have medical insurance through work and it is covered by them so have got an appointment within 3 days! Not looking forward to going though, I am so apprenhensive and all I can think is that it will be my fault that we cannot have the baby we dream about. x

No i dont mind you asking one of my tubes is blocked and the other is alittle bit blocked ive had two failed ivfs and one natural miscarriage so i can get pregnant but its just not as easy for me as other people, i did ask the specialist if there can do anything to open them up again but he said no.
