Aghh tummy time

Post subject: Aghh tummy time Hi ladies - need some advice if poss
My three month old still screams the second we put her on her tummy for tummy time - she gets so upset she puts her face into the mat n screams into the floor - im worried she needs to do this to do the push ups etc but she just wont Any ideas?? Weve tried different toys, getting on floor with her, laying ger on bed etc but same result. Is there another way of doing it??? X _________________  Posted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 7:14 pm
Post subject: Some babies do just hate it, my lo did right up untill about 6 months
 I found I got the best result by getting a rolled up towel and putting that one his chest then placing his arms on the other side of the roll, he would stay like this for about 3 or 4 mins to start with (instead of about 10 seconds) and gradually built it up to about 10 mins.
Don't forget on their tummy on your chest is also classed as tummy time  _________________

we bought sam one of those as she liked being on her tummy, but she hated this, but might be worth a try for your lo? _________________

Post subject: Both mine hated tummy time and to be honest I didn't both with it, as in putting them on their tummies on the floor as it distressed them, we just did them on my chest with me laying on the couch and they enjoyed that.
Archie was late with his head control as he was in hospital for 3 months but he pulled up at 9 months and 1st steps at 10months so didn't affect his development. xx _________________

Post subject: Jamie hated tummy time and then suddenly, just before he was four months, worked out he could push himself up and loved it although it probably helped that he started crawling at four months.
I used to find he didn't mind going on his tummy laying on my chest or over my legs _________________

Post subject: George hated it, slowly getting better. NCT lady just said do a couple of mintues a couple of times a day and that it's really common and not to worry too much. He can now push himself up sometimes and will even raise a smile if encouraged but still only manages a minute before he gets cross.

Post subject: Leah-paige was the same hun she hated it so we didnt have long doing it but now she has learnt to roll we dont get it all all grrr ....some babies dont like it and will possibly be bum shufflers instead of crawlers lol xx

Post subject: Update lol - found a way issy has at least 4-5 mins each time.... In the buff. Went to baby massage n was dreading it as it was back day, so put her on her front with nothing on just laying on a towell, n no crying!!!
Tried it at home n although she cries eventually we get most time this way _________________
