NT scan shows 3 mm

Post subject: NT scan shows 3 mm Hi all !.. i ve been searching for a forum lik this.. my wife is in 19th week currently.. after our anamoly scan, she got freaked out wen our doc looked at the scan report and said some freaky terms like "Choroid Plexus cyst (CPC) in brain" and "Echogenic Intra-cardiac focus in heart".. we both went to depressed state as this is our first baby
 .. v both are 27.. we did our trisomy 18/21 tests as well.. n they turned out to b negative.. and our NT scan showed 3mm at 14 weeks 2 days (i know we did little late).. do you think is there anything abnormal?.. all she needed was someone who would say "your baby is normal" which i ve been doing.. but eventually i end up in depressed state when i start searching for information from the web!!.. i would definitely need many of happy mom's advice here that gives us the strength. BTW, our DR said to do amneo test to find out accurately if the baby has chromosome probs or not. But we did not take it as it involves some risk of mis-carriage. I m not sure if I have taken the right decision of avoiding amneo test, considering the facts of having only two soft markers (CPC and EIF). Your advice please !!!!!  Posted: Wed Oct 10, 2012 7:33 pm
Post subject: Can't help unfortunately but just wanted to wish you well, your wife is a lucky lady to have such a caring husband. I recommend you get some advice from a doctor about what those terms actually mean before you take a risk with the amino. Find out as much as you can before you worry too much, it may not be anything too bad x

Post subject: Hi, the two things you've highlighted are only soft markers for syndromes like Edwards Syndrome and separately can mean nothing. My son was found to have a 5mm CPC at his 20 week scan and is now 2 1/2 and a completely normal toddler.
I think you should go back to your doctor and get some answers because the worry won't be helping you both. I did exactly the same and stressed myself out googling everything and made myself sick with worry until I saw a consultant and was told all was fine. Sonographers I've found can be a bit uncaring. So now almost we have decided NOT to go for amnio.. as we are told by couple of doctors that 3mm falls under normal NT range.. I will keep u posted about any findings ! but though the doctors say that they are just markers, the name "EIF" and CPC does _really_ freak us out ! @HelleBelle: thanks for ur wish!.. we really need it at this time !!
