Post subject: homemade xmas gifts I am keen to keep xmas costs down and was thinking the kids could make kids for grannys etc. any ideas what though???? last yr we did fudge but wanting something different this yr. help!

Post subject: How old r ur children? I made plaques for my family this year and from the kids I done there hand prints on one side and let them paint the other then when it was dry we got some pretty string so they can hang them up

Post subject: i do the vista print calendar for 99p. They also have loads of free offers on ther at the moment like mugs, pens etc. Im planning on doing that, just have to pay deleivery then.
I also have some craft stuff from Yellowmoon.org.uk ive got some photo frames for belle to decorate for grandprents, aunts and god parents. Its very chea and u get it i sets, think i paid £4 for 6 mini frames (pasport photo size) Theres loads of ideas n there, also good for doing craft stuff with your 3yr old. _________________

Post subject: For the last few years I have made soft cheese rolled in different herbs and chillies and lemon etc and make a bread plait to go with it. Last year I also started to make pork pies for some of the men in the family. Shortbread is also really simple and Christmassy

Post subject: Each christmas my mum and sister and I make cookies and take them to neighbours etc. We usually have to go to the florist and buy florist's celophane to wrap them in with ribbons, but this year I noticed that Lakeland do celophane bags perfect for a stack of biscuits, for about £2.99 for 20 bags
Cookies are always easy to do with littlies and you can ice and decorate too to make it fun!

Post subject: we got a silicone spoon mould from lakeland and we're making chocolate spoons, a few of them in a cellophane bag tied with xmas ribbon and there's a pressie lol - you stir one into coffee or hot milk or just eat it! They're big in places like costa and stuff at the moment - tend to be about £1-£1.50 each spoon or chocolate stirrer though what a rip-off so making my own! xx

Post subject: Me and my daughter have been trying out some christmas recipes this weekend and made some fudge (was shocked at how much sugar it takes
 ) but also tried out a gingerbread recipe to make gingerbread houses , if you've got any little ones to make for I bet they'd love one ?
You can find recipes online , we got one off a bbc site and then you just let your imagination run away with you as far as decorating goes  , you can use hard coloured sweets for "stained glass" windows " you just crush them and put them on the baking sheet in a hole in the gingerbread while cooking and they melt and look like windows (something like fox's glacier fruits or similar),you can fill the house with something as well if you wanted  we're also making some gingerbread biscuits using the same method for the tree, you just skewer them while warm to make a hole and thread ribbone through , I found some great cutters in a pounstretcher with candy cane shapes and all sorts of christmassy stuff which we'll make and ice with christmassy colours and they'd look lovely gift wrapped , asda mag have a good recipe for citus vodka for the grown ups too 
I've also seen recipes for mulled cider and mulled wine which could make lovely gifts with some fancy ribbon round Posted: Mon Nov 26, 2012 12:15 pm
Post subject: I bought a load of really nice photo frames on Amazon that say things like bestest grandma, auntie, grandad etc for about £2 each and I'll be putting a nice photos of the boys in it
