Does it say 3/5 engaged or 3/5 palp?
3/5 engaged is the head is 3/5ths into the pelvis
3/5 palp is 3/5ths of babys head is palpable so 2/5ths engaged
I'm sure that's the right way round anyway Laughing

If it says 3/5th eng then it means baby is 3.5ths into the pelvis - getting ready to go! if it is palp then it means that that many 5ths of the baby's head is still 'palpable' (feelable) out of the pelvis - so if it's 1/5th engaged, then it's 4/5ths palp, 2/5th eng = 3/5ths palp, etc - most MWs will record it in terms of how engaged the baby is - not how much of the head is out of the pelvis so ENG is more common to see than PALP. Smile Hope that helps! All it means basically is your baby is more in than out of the pelvis - the right way up and getting ready to go! Smile xxx

Just checked mine and last visit she said 1/5th engaged but recorded it as 4/5ths (Relationship of presenting part to brim)
I think they are all different in the way they record their notes but if yours has put Engaged then yer, baby's head is closer to the exit route than not Very Happy

Oh that's good, but isn't it right that second and subsequent babies don't always engage until labour anyway?

First baby's start to engage from 36wks and tend to stay there till labour.
Second + baby's can engage and pop in and out of the pelvis and some don't actually engage till labour.

My SIL's baby was engaged from 35wks (second baby), she got all excited thinking he'd show early lol, she went 10 days overdue Shocked Surprised
