Post subject: Any medical professionals online? Ok so I had an emergency scan today as I've had more bleeding. Turns out there is a build up of fluid and blood behind the placenta. Has anyone ever heard of this? The sonographer said baby was healthy but was cryptic about the placenta. Just said it could be touch and go until 20 weeks. I'm so upset because I have a healthy baby in there that I am in love with already after seeing it today, im terrified of losing it to my stupid placenta. Can someone shed any light?
Could this also be why I have been so sick this time? I have already posted on general pregnancy but I need this to reach a wider audience to see if anyone knows. It's eating me up xx _________________

Post subject: Dont have any experience of this but i have read of women suffering the same and strict bedrest is needed. My mum had bleeding early on in her pregnancy with my sister and although i dunno if it was the exact same thing, she was ordered to stay in bed a whole week, literally only allowed to get up for the toilet as it was touch and go whether she would miscarry and luckily she didn't after that. Post subject: I found something. that says it could be a slight placenta detatchment. it shouldn't cause any problems at the moment but you may need to go on bed rest later in your pregnancy. or it could just be a slight blood clot that will probably disappear on its own. either way it says bed rest is the best thing. try not to worry though it might not be any of them and if I've freaked you out I'm truely sorry. I would say ask your midwife to follow up on it and see what she says. fingers crossed its nothing serious and again I really hope I haven't upset you xxx

Post subject: My sil found out she had this after a bleed at around 14 weeks I think. She was told at a scan a pocket of blood/fluid which would have possibly caused the bleed. I'm not sure the size of it but she now has a healthy baby and went to full term.
