Post subject: Nearly 25 weeks pregnant cold sore after a cold Hi I'm nearly 25 weeks pregnant an just getting over a really bad cold I've got a huge cold sore by my nose ive been given amoxicillin but don't want to take anti biotics but it seems to be gettin worse and looks infected. Just wondering is amoxicillin ok to take and also if this is going to harm my baby? Thanks Sarah

Post subject: yep thats one of the blotics you can take whilst pg, I took it a couple of times with my last pg and once so far with this one, its the one they usually give you for a water infection.

Post subject: Amoxicillin is absolutely fine in pregnancy. I suspect it's a secondary bacterial infection though as a coldsore is caused by a virus, which amoxicillin wouldn't treat. Hope you feel better soon.
