Post subject: 9 month routine
My baby's just turned 9 months and I feel she's ready to stay awake longer inbeteeen naps. I also want to wean her from having a milk feed before dinner and in a few weeks, replace the afternoon milk with a snack. Her routine was 7/7.30am milk feed then breakfast, 9.30-10am nap, 11.30am milk feed then dinner, 12.30-1.00pm nap, 2.30pm milk feed, 4-4.30pm nap, 5.15pm milk feed then tea, 6.30pm bedtime milk feed. The new routine is 7/7.30am milk feed then breakfast, 10-10.30am nap, 11.30am dinner, 2-2.30pm nap, 3pm milk feed/snack, 5.15pm milk feed then tea, 6.30pm bedtime milk feed. She just didnt seem tired at 9.30am or 12.30pm and it was getting difficult to get her to sleep. I am hoping her nap length will increase as she'll be more tired and she has slept longer than 1/2hr previously. I was wondering though if she will be getting enough food, should I also give her a snack in the morning before her nap at 10am? Should she have a snack before her afternoon nap instead of after, or will this be too soon after dinner and too long until tea?

would possibly work towards the 2 naps one from 9.30 and one at 2. i would then give her snacks when she wakes up from these naps, which if shes not sleeping for long would be at 10 and 3ish.
can i ask does she sleep through the night?

Thanks for your reply. She has been sleeping through the night for a while now. When I first started the new routine i didn't give her milk at dinnertime and she woke up for a feed in the night. I've now been feeding her milk after solids at dinner time and this has stopped the night feed. I've been breastfeeding her before breakfast and tea and mid afternoon, 2.30-3pm depending when she wakes up from her nap and shes not eating anything between breakfast and dinner. It seems to be going well so far. Next step is to replace the afternoon milk with a snack and see how she goes. She's having even less milk now as I've finally been able to stop having to feed her to sleep for naps. She goes to sleep by just rocking her ( with quite a bit of crying too though). As I hoped she's sleeping longer for her afternoon nap, sometimes 1.5hr, but only 1/2hr in the morning. She seems happy with this so I'm ok with it.
