Post subject: 9 month old "waves" to herself all the time...
For about a month or so now, my DD, 9 months old, has started waving to herself. At first we were excited because she was doing it while watching her Baby Shows and we assumed she was waving (backwards) to her friends on tv. But she does it ALL the time now. When she is crawling, she will stop, look at her hand and move it like she is waving to herself. Then she will continue on as if she never stopped to look. She will be playing with a toy or looking at a book and she "waves" (opens and closes her hand/s)as well. She seems pretty normal to me, but I think this is a bit odd. We have been teaching her sign language since she was about 3 or 4 months old so we thought maybe it was her version of a sign or way to communicate. Maybe she is talking to herself?!? Any thoughts?! We go for her 9 month shots in 2 days and I want to bring it up to her doctor. Any comments are appreciated! Smile

Sounds completely normal to me, it sounds like shes just discovered something new and it still fascinates her. Nothing to bother the doctor about. Smile

My girl waves to the tv programme b4 its even finished like she knows n often looks at her fingers n any thing that catches her attention - tiny bit of fluff on floor stops her in tracks, or crumb under sofa!!

Sounds like shes entertaining herself - maybe shes finding it funny to mix sign with moving - stops boredom Smile

Post subject: Nothing To Stress About
It is just a baby being a baby. When we were kids we all did dumb things, and the only way that we would ever know about it is if our parents told us about it or something. There is definitely no need to see a doctor or anything like that. If you are really concerned about it just try showing her that you wave to other people. Best of luck.

haha it is typical of babies to discover something and just explore it and analyse it from their own baby world of new discoveries. I find it fascinating to watch...Even our Labrador loves watching our baby Smile
I also just found out something really curious: babies have far more bones than adults in fact it seems almost 100 more bones.
