The whopping cough vaccination in its self not very effective. It's widely reported it is only really providing some immunity for the first 2 years of having the vaccination. Just vaccinating pregnant women before birth is a relatively flawed theory. Yes we may provide some immunity to the baby when most vulnerable but other family members who are in contact with the baby or not vaccinated/ or were vaccinated many years ago may have no immunity to it and some day these people would need to be vaccinated or given boosters.
We are an open border country and a lot of old illnesses are on the rise that we had pretty much eradicated. Not all EU countries or other countries follow our vaccination program. Don't forget these figures are scary but there could be other factors behind the shown increase (better testing, birth rate may be higher etc..)
Do what you feel is right for you and the baby. _________________
