For clothes items, is it better to use a name or reference number?

I'm setting up an online children's boutique and since we have so many items we were thinking about using a name or reference number when people purchase them. I'm thinking names (i.e. Abigail, Rebecca etc), but my friend has suggested a reference number (i.e. D-157 etc). What sounds better to you?

Been given permission to run this. Very Happy

Depends on how many items you will be selling and whether you can think of enough names. What will you call your unisex clothes?

I agree, a code would be easier when looking over spreadsheets and things butttt its boring and names all the way because it will be like picking baby names all over again haha!
I was thinking maybe names of colours, like indigo or even french ones like blanc for unisex clothing?
Good luck xx

My cousin is a designer and runs a online women's clothes website called Hedonia, she uses names for her designs. Its probably easier for the customer to remember, where as numbers feel a bit less personal.

For unisex clothes you could have Alex, Ashley, Billie, Cameron - there's loads of unisex names.
