Not 100% sure what you're asking, but if you're only looking into the reversal for him and not sure if you want another then |I'd talk to him about it first.
Your GP can't give you advise about it as you would have to go private, reversals aren't available on the NHS unless you can prove it should never have been done or you lost a child soon after , NHS GP's are not allowed to reccommend private hospitals or surgeons , so you need to research yourself and see whats available within a distance you're happy to travel. Ops cost between about £3,00-5,000 .
IVF is another option as well, especially if you know you only want to have one child and may be better depending on how your sterilisation was done , as some methods are less reversible, also time since sterilisation does seem to make a difference to success rates after reversal but not with IVF Question
If you only wanted one child and are happy to be sterilised and not have the complication of contraception in the future and don't want to fully restore your fertility then IVF might be a better option Question

I used spire private healthcare, although I paid in full they did offer payment plans. Cost for my reversal was £3495, I had to have 12 weeks of work x

I think recovery varies a lot and I had keyhole not open and was back driving and exercising after just 5 days, but I know some of the Ladies who've had open said it was comparable to a c section as far as recovery goes Question I didn't use BMI sorry, I had mine done at the Spire Regency which is in Macclesfield for £2,700 but there was also the option of Spire Manchester and they also do payment plans, either a card with a third party company or a loan with a medical specialist company, its worth shopping around, but also bear in mind actual success rates, ie. pregnancy rates, a lot of docs either won't quote any stats like mine, or they quote tubes repaired as successes which in reality they're not Confused But if you hear of quite a few women getting pregnant after using a particular doc on these forums then I'd try and go for that doc , there is an outcomes post I started in this section somewhere but its probably a few pages in now, might have someone who used the hospital you're looking at on there, some hospitals have more than one surgeon there though and it seems to be the surgeon who makes all the difference , Good luck xx

Post subject: Awful private doctor
Hi ladies, My name is Anna and I got sterilised 10years ago when I was 21.
Have anyone heard of post tubal ligation syndrome (PTLS)?
Well I've had pelvic pains for years and I've had many investigations into this such as ultra sounds scan, bloods taken, biopsy, period diaries, swabs, everything always seem to come back normal, anyway I'm not sure what made me think of my filshie clips but I did,so I did some research into this and it turns out there are many woman with the same symptoms.
I then went and made an appointment with my gp and in all fairness she was very open minded and accepted what I had to say and she had even heard of PTLS to my surprise, so she referred me private as I wanted to look into PTLS and I wanted an X-ray scan to see if my clips had migrated and if they had I wanted to have my clips taken out!
So this evening I went to my local Spire hospital and I just had the worst consultation ever, the doctor was very rude and dismissed everything I had to say, I ended up walking out of the hospital crying.
He wouldn't except that PTLS was real he said if my clips had come off they could stay in my body, I said it's my body and I would want them out as it would be a foreign body floating about and he said no they are fine. He even suggested that if he was going to remove my clips that he would remove my tubes totally which I replied that's EXTREME isn't it and he rolled his eyes and said what do you need them for. He said I would be in the same pain as I am now. He said as for me doing research and finding Dr Pickles in Nottingham, any clinic will tell me what I want to hear!!!
I've phoned the hospital to make a complaint I'm so upset, I honestly wished I never got sterilised!!!!!
I guess at the time I got sterilised it was the right descision at that time but now my life is so extremely different I also cannot help to wonder what if.
I'm also wondering if any ladies here have used Dr Pickles in Nottingham? Was he experienced? What was your personal experience with Dr Pickles and the clinic?
I've been given the quote of £3995 for a free telephone consultation with Dr P then after that another consultation face to face with Dr P and a two night stay at Nottingham clinic after the operation then a telephone follow up six weeks after the
operation with Dr P.

I had Doctor Pickles and a few other ladies I know have had Doctor Pickles too. He is honest & does believe in PTLS. I had migraines every few weeks which lasted days on end for 8 years after I was sterilized, my hair got thinner and I was generally not myself for 8 years I genuinely thought I was going nuts. Anyway since my reversal I have not had one headache never mind a migraine and my hair is getting thicker and an added bonus I am 14 weeks preggie now!

Definitely have a telephone consult with Dr Pickles. He is wonderful. Mandy his secretary is great too.

There are many ladies where the clips have come loose and ruptured there bowels and done all sorts of problems and landed up in places which just shouldnt be possible. Shocked

I also had a rubbish consult with another consultant who really upset me before going to Dr Pickles. Who dismissed my PTLS has in my head and tried to push me to ivf because of my age. Well he was wrong on both accounts. Very Happy

Some doctors shouldn't be allowed to speak to patients at all Rolling Eyes I'm sorry this moron upset you , a lot of women have all sorts of problems after sterilisation anything from twinges and pains during ov or sex from adhesions to bowel and bladder problems also normally from adhesions to hormonal imbalances to early menopause and the complete loss of their tube and ovaries which can die off due to blood flow restrictions Shocked , add to that the complications of the clips being free floating and your body trying to protect you from them by forming scar tissue around them and it's no wonder so many women have problems .
I had pain for years while sterilised and also struggled with what I now suspect was low hormone levels which left me depressed with no interest in sex and not feeling like a "real" woman the whole time, I found out at my reversal that one tube was stuck to my abdomen and bowel and the other was badly twisted round my ovary Shocked I lost the right tube but luckily the left ovary wasn't damaged and he repaired the left tube, and after the op my hormone levels shot up, I got my sex drive back Embarassed Laughing and I became much more aware of changes throughout my cycle.
Just the adhesions from the surgery on there own can cause pain during sex or ovulation or periods so I can't understand why some docs won't acknowledge it as a complication Question
Anyway as Jellybean said Dr Pickles does seem very good, all his Ladies only seem to have good things to say about him Smile and he does seem to get good results as far as pregnancies go if you do want another baby, didn't see him myself although I now wish I had Rolling Eyes Laughing I know a lot of US women get reversals just to combat their PTLS though even when they don't want another child, my only tube now is scarred over but i'm still glad I had the reversal as I feel much more like myself than I did while sterilised Question xx

Post subject: Rude doctor
Thank you for your reply DL05, I've spoken with Mandy this morning at the Nottingham clinic, she was lovely and we are now in the progress of setting up my first consultation with Dr Pickles.
I really want to find out if one of my clips have migrated.
Mandy (Dr P, Secretary) even mentioned putting me in touch with other women from Wales who have had this procedure with the clinic, I thought that was fantastic as I admitted to Mandy that I have researched Dr P, she said that was sensible hahaha.
See even you knew jelly bean75, the thing is we have lived with our bodies for years and we know when something isn't right, the same as we know when our children/pets are ill.
I also phoned Spire hospital to make a complaint to management and said I I've found a hospital in Nottingham who are willing to listen to me. In all fairness she was lovely on the phone and she was going to have a chat with the rude narrow minded Dr to get his side of the story, she did offer me another consultation but I said NO and I would rather a refund as I didn't pay to be belittled.
Look how are bodies react to a splinter, so why wouldn't our body react to a filshie clip floating about!!!
Dr Pickles with hopefully arrange a telephone consultation this month and then if I'm confident with him I'm going to arrange a face to face appointment for September as thats when my hubby is home from Iraq.
Fingers crossed.
I just wanted to speak to other wome who have used Dr Pickles as I'm about a 3hour drive away from Nottingham and I'm not familiar with the reputation of the doctor/clinic. I don't want to put myself in danger.
