Would anyone recommend sperm tests bought off the Internet?

Nope, I would rather trust an nhs one that gives exact numbers and a breakdown in detail of the sample. Plus its free. An internet test will only give you a yes /no answer to whether the sperm count is above a certain amount but theres so much more to the sperm sample than that.

I would leave things for now, its not been a year yet and thats perfectly normal. If your o/h is that worried then send him to the doctor.

Thanks I wasn't sure or not they didn't sound too good to be honest. My partner isn't as worried as me but he says if it will put my mind at ease then he said he will go. I don't know much about sperm tests are they complicated to get done, do u need to provide a few samples every so often?

Nope its a one off sample that you either do at home in a pot provided and then take it to the hospital or you do it at the hospital and hand it in. To be honest Id hold off on it, I really dont think at the moment theres any need for you to go down that route it can just add more stress and pressure. When my o/h had to do a sample at the hospital it was not a pleasant experience - in a room with a bed and porn on the tv, whilst theres a waiting room full of other men/couples waiting to do theres. Was an unbelievable amount of pressure.

If you live close to your local hospital then he should be able to do it at home Question I did read that the more a man enjoys whatever it is that makes him ejaculate then the more sperm in the semen so just doing the sample under pressure could reduce the count slightly, so at home would probably be better to get a true reflection but the NHS will only do them if there's a reason to and generally you have to have been trying for a set length of time, from 6 months to a year depending on your age.
The internet dye tests aren't much good as they just give you a clue as to how many sperm in general they are but as Nutty said you need to know what shape they're in as well Smile , you can now buy tests (I've seen them on amazon) that come with a microscope and various slides and instructions on how to check motility, morphology and actual count and they had fairly good reviews and weren't that pricey Question
It did all look a bit like a lab experiment but I think I might have given one a go if we hadn't had an NHS one done Laughing
Don't forget to abstain for 3 days beforehand though if you do try one otherwise the results won't be right xx

I looked on boots website and they have a sperm test only available online for £34.99 it's called sperm check fertilty and is 98% accurate and tells you if the sperm is normal or low. Has anyone used this before? Want to give it a go to see to put my mind at ease.

It will only be the count though.
1)If he's sickening for something that can cause a one-off low count in a man whose semen is usually fine.
2)If it comes back with normal numbers that doesn't mean there's not an issue with motility and abnormal forms.

Basically I'd advise not as you'd be wasting your money.

You can get a private proper test done for £120. I know thats over 3 x as much but at least you will get some proper information from it.

I agree with Kaz, it wont give you the bigger picture and theres more to it than low count or normal. Youre better off paying privately for a proper analysis, though I still dont think youve any need to at the moment.

Of course it's totally up to you what you spend your money one, but I have to agree with Kaz and Nutty that it could be a waste of time and money and worse still it could give you a false sense that everything's fine with your OH's sperm when a count alone can't tell you that Question
It also tells you nothing about your fertility .
To be honest if you just wanted to know if his sperm count was low they do much cheaper dye tests on amazon that tell you the same thing not that I'm saying they're worth doing either but at least you wouldn't be spending as much money doing them .
They also have the one I mentioned previously which was a similar price to the boots one but does (supposedly) tell you motility etc. as well all though I suspect there's room for human error with that one .
If you really feel you need to know though I'd definitely go with the private lab option it might cost more but you should get a proper breakdown of exactly what's going on with your OH but it's not like having the tests helps you get pregnant and it still won't tell you if there's some other reason it's not happening Question xx
