Post subject: Hi Siobhan - Charting your cycles allows you to understand your body and have an idea of when you will ovulate (and your temperatures will confirm if you have actually ovulated at all) and when your period will arrive.
I started off not charting and since beg of August I have, it's the best thing I've done since we started. You can check back on the days in your cycle to see how you were feeling last month and compare with how you are in your current cycle - it means you get to know when you start to get sore boobs, feel ratty or hungry through your cycle. Also monitoring your cervical mucus (discharge) lets your body tell you when you are becoming fertile. It really is worth it. If you plan to do it, you need to get a Basal Body Thermometer - or at least a digital one that measures in points, i.e. 36.9 degrees C. Good luck.
