could there be other reasons that a baby's heart beat could not be found other than miscarriage?

It could be the way baby is laying, sometimes it can be really difficult to find if he/she is laid in a certain position, also depends how far on you are, the heartbeat is harder to find when baby is small in earlier stages of pregnancy
