What's the six week scan?

Post subject: What's the six week scan?
Hi everyone
I'm five weeks pregnant and visited my doctor today. She said that they don't do scans before 12 weeks. But lots of people here seem to be talking about a six week scan... I've been trying to conceive for seven years (!), so naturally am very anxious to have a successful pregnancy. Should I be pushing for this six week scan? What is it for?Thanks x

i had a early scan but that was because i was having some bleeding. i think the early scans are for high risk pregnancy or if you having bad sighs like bleeding xx

they can do dating scans but ive never heard of a 6 week scan
