Can any one help?

My 3 years and 6 months year old boy has been out of nappies since last November and is very good and taking himself off to the toilet to do a wee.

But when he needs a poo he has to have a nappy. I have been told to not make an issue of this and just go with the flow. This I have done for months on end. He changes totally when he needs to go. ie is very moody and refuses to do anything. Including agreeing to put on a nappy.

At the moment I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Has anyone got any ideas.
