Post subject: Hello - First timer here
Hi everyone

My name is Vicky and i'm new to the site. It's also my first pregnancy and as I'm only 8 weeks we have decided to wait a little while longer before telling family & friends.

So having known for a while now and with a head bursting with questions and a rollercoaster of emotions I cant share it with any of my female friends and it's hard. My husband is wonderful but sometimes there is stuff you need to talk about with your girlfriends.

So any advice from the more experienced amongst you would be very welcome and it would be great to get to know you all, especially anyone in a similar situation ie who is also in the first trimester or pregnant for the first time (especially if you're over 35!)

cheers

Vicky

Hi Rosie

Thanks for the welcome. I've just turned 40 and as I said this is my first pregnancy. I have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow and its a mixture of excitement and worry. I'm guesing it will be urine, blood weighing and measuring etc does that sound about right? I've made a list of dates, questions etc so I dont forget to ask anything. It will be exciting to get an official due date.

I know its your 3rd baby but have you noticed any difference with your experience being older this time ?

i think at my 1st appointment with midwife it was bloods, general medical history and weighing hun. its totally normal to feel nercous and excited so dont worry! Wink theres a 13 year age gap so for this baby i feel like its my 1st time all over again, but ive had a much better preg than with my other two!! i have found it more tiring but i expected that and a lot worse! Shocked but like i say, thankfully its been great, i look really well so people keep telling me and i just appreciate it so much more being older than when i was younger. im sure youre going to be just fine!! and big congratulations!!! Wink xxx

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words. It really is nice to know there is first hand experience and knowledge as well as friendly and caring women in the same boat. I'm glad I found Asky Baby. Had my first midwifes appt yesterday and think it really made things hit home, choosing a hospital and filling in all those forms etc was almost as mindblowing as when I saw that positive result for the first time.

At least I have a due date now (Dec 10th) and we made calls to family last night.

One question if I have other specific questions is this place to talk or should I be picking an appropriate forum or doesn't it matter?

Hi and welcome and congrats!!

I would say go on the First Pregnancy Forum for all your questions...also there are a couple of threads called December Mummies so join on to these if you fancy.

I have found this website to be invaluable for all my worries etc - it really helps, particularly if you are not telling many people yet., and also it's great that other women totally understand how you are feeling etc.

xx

Hi and welcome to ask baby,
You can post in any forum, but general pregnancy and first pregnancy are good for baby related issues and general chat is great for other things.
The girls on here are all lovely.
Happy chatting
XxX
