Post subject: Breast milk is reducing
Hi everyone - Just had Charlie 1.23kg 7 weeks early (2lbs 12) He is doing well in NNU. I dont seem to be able to express enough breast milk to keep up with him. I have tried breast feeding a couple of times but without too much success. Sucks and sleeps.. The time is now approaching when he is to be taken out of the incubator and I want to know - Is it wrong to put him on a bottle (formula) , which might spoil my chances of BFing him? My expressing has gone from 20ml to 5ml per attempt (30 mins) (6 times per day/night). Will it get better once I am with him more? Many thanks Sam

Hi Sammy,
congrats on your wee one and glad he's doing well!!!
I'm not sure about formula...Are you drinking TONS of water? Drinking and how often you express/feed is what produces your milk. Even if you're just expressing a little bit, I would keep doing it even more.

I wish you and your baby the best Smile
