Post subject: New baby with colic
Hi all. I'm new to this site and to parenting!!!
My little man was born on 27 May and is adorable BUT...
he's got colic.
I have read the advice given in the health pages here but wondered whether any of you had any tips that had actually worked for you???
Desperately waiting to hear. Confused

Hi,
I know this advice probably comes too late, but have you tried infacol. It's great for smaller babies. It does take a few days for the effects to build up, but is worth it. Also we used gripe water which was even more effective but can't be given to babies under 3 months(you'd have to check the bottle but i'm sure that's the correct age). Good luck.

My middle child had colic, tried infacol but to no effect, then heard about cranial osteopathy, went along with intrepidation, however the constant screaming was starting to get to me and her, there is nothing worse than seeing your baby in distress when you can't seem to help. Anyway went for 3 sessions in total and she pooed up to her armpits every time, quite common I was told and plenty of baby wipes in the toilet. I was told it was to do with her coming really quickly which she did, the midwife didn't even have time to call the other one in. She is a sparky three year old now, I have no idea what they did and she wasn't even touched, the osteopath puts hands near the head but with no contact, anyway it settled her after only three sessions and I would recommend it to anyone. There is a website which should give you a specialist in cranial in your area, just look it up under cranial osteopathy.

Hope this helps.......

I've been using the Dr Browns bottles for my daughter ever since she had colic. They are a bit more work in the cleaning department but I would say worth effort. They seem to channel the air so that baby doesnt swallow as much. Also, the teats are harder which I found great since she was breastfed and has a serious suck! Try Colief, my GP prescribed it, but unless you are on a great routine, mixing up the medicine into a feed 30min before feed is tricky.
