Post subject: Very spicy hot foods
Hey girls - I merrily stood making an incredibly hot chilli last night for tonight's tea and have just thought this morning - oh my god, is this good for the baby, as it's now feeding off me through the umbilical cord ?!!!

Please can anyone let me know whether I should avoid very hot spicy foods - it's quite hot for me, so I'm wondering if the baby would have a bad reaction when it reaches he / she ? Confused Shocked

As far as I know, hot and spicy foods are just fine. My mother had a craving for chilis and mexican salsas whilst she was pregnant with me and would go out and eat mexican food almost every night.

My husband's mother used to eat Vindaloos whilst she was pregnant with him.

I've had a craving for a lot of spicy stuff and my baby is healthy and fine at 24 weeks. I'm sure it is okay for this to happen. I think the main problem is that if you suffer from heartburn, this may aggrivate it, but it doesn't affect everyone.
