"Weather In Egypt - The warmest climate, even in December
The winter months see temperatures on Egypt holidays hitting the mid to high 20s and Egypt still receives around seven to eight hours of constant sunshine per day. The nights are cold but the days are perpetually hot and sunny. Egypt is at its mildest from October to May with temperatures around 22C to 31C, so this may be the perfect time for a family holiday in Egypt. Temperatures in the desert during the daytime still hit the 30s and the sea is still warm enough to take a leisurely swim in"

Been to Egypt and yes they do prefer US dollars which is a good reason not to take them because it means you are more likely to be fleeced. Get egyptian pounds as they can't exchange them.
The pyramids are lovely as is the sphinx. also if you have time go to cairo museum. Its amazing!!!
