Post subject: When to wash my sons genitals
Hi, I'm not sure when it is safe to wash my sons penis as I was warned not to pull the foreskin back when he was born. He's 18 months now and I have noticed some white paste like substace caught when the skin does pull back when cleaning him. I remember when I was about 5 my mum telling me to clean 'my tail' every bath time (we lived in the tropics and it was important to keep clean). Any idea when it's safe to pull the foreskin back to clean it properly?

hi, it sounds like smegma, the white creamy type substance produced underneath the foreskin to help the foreskin slide over easily. thats perfectly natural and as long as you keep the external genitals clean, it shouldn`t be a problem. i`m not sure when its safe to pull a foreskin back, theres no exact cut-off age for it really.
here, check out this link, ( copy and paste it into your web browser) it talks about this, hope it helps:

Hi there, as long as you clean the outa genitals properly there is no need to pull it back to clean. Like said above the white stuff you see is the bodies way of keep things moist and a little protections for the skin also. Its also not designed to pull back till puberty takes over anyway...........
