Post subject: Itchy Skin
girls another drama in the hormonal house of me !! i have been really really itchy around my back and middle - i showed the doctor and i have to have liver enzyme test tomorrow, but it looks like i have been eaten or something like that but it isnt - tiny little red spots - its not chicken pox etc - we have animals and they are all fine - we have wood floors etc so no dust mites - (sorry bit yicky i know) we have had our water tested and it has filters on etc - i have the sensitive washing powder and always rinse everything twice (OCD!!)
does anyone know what it could be and what i can do to help it ! think the quack thought i had fleas LOL

hi gingin! long time no see! hope everything is going well with you. (apart from the ocd and fleas!!).
My friend has just had a baby but she said she suffered right the way through her pregnancy with the itch..to the point where she made her skin raw. so i think if everything is ok with your blood tests then it might just be one of those things.
are you using moisturisers? i use palmers cocoa butter its so soothing.
dawn. x

Gingin - weirdest thing, it sounds like ive had exactly the same as you!! small red spots around middle and lower back (two on arm)!! i too went to the doctors who said she wasnt sure what it was, definitely not chicken pox. measles etc. i also have two cats but i regularly deflea them and besides the spots werent like flea bites (having suffered a few in my time im pretty confident in that). I cleaned house from top to bottom, washed sheets etc etc and nothing. Also, husband hasnt suffered from any bites. After about 3 weeks of suffering they seem to be disappearing. I can only assume that they are either some kind of side effect of the pregnancy or the only other theory i could come up with is that some how a midge has got into house and bitten me at night but again because of partner not suffering im thinking its the former. im so glad that im not the only one. i could tell from doctors face that she also thought that that id got some kind of critter!!

All over my arms back of legs and dry skin on my face but that isnt too bad!!

Been using E45 cream and that has really calmed things down!!
Have checked on net and apperently its very normal tho just due to hormone changes etc!!

So happy not the only one that looks like a beetroot!! lol

Hi,

I have had this problem from very early in my pregnancy. was mainly on my legs to start, then around my middle, and strangely enough on my shoulders!! Also had it on my face. I have suffered from mild excema in the past, so have just put it down to this and dryness through pregnancy. Mentioned it to the midwife, but she wasn't bothered, just asked me about all the usual swollen fingers etc...

I've found using a body scrub in the shower and lots of moisturiser has really helped, and E45 cream as some others have mentioned. Hope that helps. I am 27 weeks now and still getting it bad. It's really annoying, but the moisturiser etc helps.

Good luck everyone, nice to know I'm not alone!
