Post subject: Sleep training a baby that can/does get out of bed?
Hi. I'm sleep training a 20 month old - seems I'm late to the party. He sleeps on a bed now, so he comes to his room door and bangs and cries. All the guidelines say not to pick the kid up. Do I just bend that rule (to put him back in bed) or how does this process work with a child that can/does get out of bed?
Thanks in advance!

He might be ok now if not give this a try:
The first couple of times he gets out of bed tell him firmly that it's bed time and put him into his bed (hold his hand or carry him) after that if he keeps getting up just take himn back to bed without saying anything. Hopefully he will soon get the message.
