Post subject: Maternity Grant and other things Girlies, can you help me help a friend ... my pregnant friend is filling out some application forms. Can you tell me how long it took you to recieve the following ....
1. Sure Start Maternity Grant 2. Child Benefit 3. Child Tax Benefit Thanks. Having no idea about this kinda thing I thought I'd ask you lot.  _________________

Post subject: I never qualified for the sure start so cant comment there, but i filled my forms in before i had Sam, so i didnt have to worry about it when she was born. I got her registered at 4 days old and sent the birht certificate off with the child benefit form, and got my first payment about 10 days later. I sent off the form for tax credits at the same time, but they need the child benefit reference before they pay, so as soon as i had that i phoned them up with it and had my first payment within a week. So all payments were done within a month.

Post subject: i think the maternity grant can only be applied for if baby is due or born before the 11th April, if baby is due on or b4 then they can apply for that now,
the child benefit and tax credits doesnt take too long, but i think the tax credits need child benefit number - so child benefit has to be doen first but you get the application forn at the hosp - but i also think baby needs to be registered 1st so does take a few weeks xXx_________________
