flat head?

Post subject: flat head? This is an odd one. My baby boy (1st baby) is 8 weeks old and has a really flat head
 . He has always and still does sleep on his back and i just wondered is it normal and will his head take shape once he can sit up or sleep on his side? I googled and something called flat head syndrome came up which i didn't like the sound of. I have asked friends and family who have children of their own and its divided opinions really some say it will take form soon and others say that will be his permanent head shape. It isn't about the way he looks to me he is the most beautiful person on earth its just i read that it can cause his brain to not be able to grow properly and now i am sooo worried. He has his 8 week injections soon so i can ask the Dr then but in the meantime am i worrying for nothing? Please help  x_________________ <a><img></a> Posted: Thu Jul 14, 2011 6:50 pm
Post subject: My little girl has a completely flat bit on back of her head where she has rubbed all her hair off, it will disappear once they start sleeping in different positions. Its good to practice them going on their tummies. I have seen a little girl with true flat head syndrome, even her face was misshappen, but she had specialm head gear to wear and she is now a beautiful bright 9 year old!

Post subject: yep, as gg said - flat head syndrome is not a bit of flatness, it's awful. Isaac had it, his face was lumpen, his eyes were different shapes and his chin was an inch off centre. He wore a starband for 11 months to correct it. Don't worry, it's pretty normal, but do reposition when you can, and encourage tummy time as much as you can
