Hi, I've been reading for a while and now feel ready to post.
I'm 32 hubby's 32 been together 16 years, have two boys and two girls so very lucky I know.
When I was pregnant with number 4 hubby had the snip (I was 20 week pregnant at the time).
In hind sight very stupid to do it then and we where both only 28.
Any way we have really regretted it ever since but thought we are lucky to have 4 beautiful children.
But the feeling is to strong to fight anymore so we are looking into getting the reversal (I do feel selfish as we do have children).
What advice would you give me?

Hello ladies!

Well 2 days to go to OH's op!! Feeling extremely emotional about the whole thing but just can't wait!
There's a 90% chance of success so I'm just hoping everything goes well on the day!!
OH is so blasé about it and just wants to get it done...it's ok for him...I'll be pacing the floor waiting for him to come out of theatre!!!

Hi Jo...welcome!! My advice to you would be if you regret it now you'll always regret so get the reversal done while its only been 4 years!!

Wish me luck!!!xx

Hi Jo,

It's been 10 yrs since my OHs op. We have been together 3 years and always knew we wanted to have children together. We thought we would never be able to afford it but we were fortunate enough to get a PPI refund this year which was more than enough to pay for it.
We are going to the Saxon Coinic in Milton Keynes...a private hospital rather than a specialist vasectomy reversal clinic.
The 90% success is with regards to reversal working...then only a 30% success rate of pregnancy so fingers and toes crossed!!!
If the reversal works but I don't get pregnant naturally then at least there will be other options!!!

Xx

emily good luck my hubby is having redo reversal in 2 weeks, he said the 1st wasn't that bad at all otherwise he wouldn't have it done again x
jojo, i had 4 kiddies (twin girls and a girl and a boy )hubby got the snip when i was expecting my 4th in 2003.i knew it was a mistake straight away we were both 28.after a couple of years of nagging him he got a reversal, it worked he had sperm present but he had antibodies so we went down the isci route after a couple of try's i now have a little boy who is nearly 12 weeks old,we would like 1 more before its too late. hubby's reversal has since scarred over so he is having a redo reversal in 2 weeks time. we have a few embryos on ice but the ivf was very stressful we would like to try naturally for a bit 1st if possible. we were told by are fertility docs that having had 4 together already we were very compatable and were great candidates for both vas reversal and isci, hope this helps x

Congrats susie on your new little boy, you have been through quite a bit I see.
I hope that your OHs 2nd reversal goes well.
How common is antibody s ? I really don't know much about all this, that is why I though I would get as much info so we know what hubby and I are letting ourselfs in for.

Hello ladies!
Well we are 5 days post op and OH is doing really well! So much so that he's been to the pub today!!
The doctor says the operation was a complete success and he was really pleased with how it had gone.
There is an awful lot of bruising but the swelling has started to reduce already!!
So 3 weeks and 2 days to go and we can start trying!! Not that we're counting!!!! 😉

Hope everyone else is well.xx

Post subject: Vas Reversal - Post Op expectations
Hi. I had a reversal on Sunday 9th and am wondering what is normal (the clinic havent answered the phone all day which is frustrating)

The scrotal area is still quite bruised and swollen and worryingly very firm in most places, it has also lost any form of symetry (firmer on one side). No real pain unless I stand and then I get mild lower abdomial pain for about 10 seconds...

Any advice / thoughts

Hi Scooby,
My OH had his op on the 5th...he was very bruised and very swollen, the swelling started to reduce on day 5 post op...but he did say they were very firm...in his words...it was like they were full!! We're on day 8 now and the bruising is just starting to fade and the swelling is almost completley gone.

Hope that helps.

Post subject: reversal
Thanks Emily, 'balls of steel' is how I would describe them, feel solid underneath in most places...... I am just concerned about haematoma or something, but then again no pain when sitting or laying, only on initial standing so probably just me fretting and being frustrated at sitting around

Hi scooby0606, my OH had his op in Oct, he felt exactly the same as you. It will go down, if you are at all worried though go to your GP and they can put you at ease. May I ask where you had the op done?

Emily, how is the OH doing. How are you doing? Quite scary when you no you can start ttc. I'm still all confused about it. lol.

Well baby dust to everyone.

Sara, Thanks for your reply. I managed to speak to my surgeon today (Dr Thakur, Headland clinic UK) and he said all was fine. He advised as long as it didnt get hot or swell more I shouldnt worry. It doesnt seem to of chaged much in one day so going to leave it until Mon and see where it is. How long did it take for your hubbys to go down ?

Hi David, it took a good couple of weeks for it to go down, the bruising went after about a week or so. Unfortunately he did develop an infection but with antibiotics was all well a few days after.

Hope your feeling better soon.

Sara
