swollen blue gum HELP!!

Post subject: swollen blue gum HELP!! has anyone else had a child who has had this problem while teething
i thought there might be something on here about someone who has experienced it my LO is 1yr and 3weeks and i looked in his mouth today to find most of his top right gum wa swollen i panicked called the doctor and he aid ak a dentist tried to phone the dentist and got receptionist!they were about as much help as a wall it is playing on my mind after researching it i found that its like a bruise where he is teething but its worrying me still has anyone elses LO experienced it? is it common? can anyone explain to me what it really is? please help
