Hey hun, my mum, aunt and my cousin are all foster carers. My mum fosters from birth - 4 years old. My aunty does any ages and my cousin tends to get older children but she fosters through a private agency whereas my mum and aunty do it through the local council. There are pros and cons no matter who you decide to go with. I know the local authority hold information nights (well they do in Scotland).
Any questions you have i can ask my mum for you xx _________________

Thanks for your speedy reply and sorry i hdidn't have chance to come back to you Friday....My biggest worry is getting to attached to the kids and first and formost meeting the criteria for being acepted as we run a fairly unconventional house as it is (we have shared care of my two step sons & my son lives with us full time)We do have a spare bedroom though but just a bit worried they would think our house is crazy enough!! My oh is really keen whereas i'm thinking about the details and not getting my hopes up!! Thanks again for you reply ... x

No problem hun. I think thats what my mum is finding hard. She has a wee boy atm who is 15 months and she's had him since he was a day old and unfortunately he's going up for adoption and we are all finding it quite hard but the way my mum sees it is she has brought up all her children and she is only helping these gorgeous children out until they find a family who will love them, if that makes sense. I wouldn't worry about having an unconventional house, whats that these days?? And your house seems to be pretty normal to me. My oh always says my auntys house is like the waltons
Me & my oh are going to do it once we've had our own family. I think its a fab idea but probably because i've seen it first hand. I'd definately foster babys though.
Anytime you have any questions just let me know xx _________________

Hiya
Myself & my husband are foster carers, We have a daughter of 20months & my hubby has 2 older children.
We have a parent & child living with us at the moment, they moved in when baby was 2 days old straight from the hospital. It is working out well so far. I am worried about getting attatched & also worried about how Daya will react when they leave but i am hoping that as she is still very young she will forget about them with in days. We had to give our dog away due to him growling at her & she forgot him in a day so hoping it will be the same.
We have only been doing it for 6months so are still new to it all so any questions ask away

I would love to be a foster parent.
Im not to worried about the attatchment side of it, I just want to be able to give children what they should have.
Your family sounds an absolutely diamond bunch chatty
and well done to those of you already doing such a wonderful thing
