Amount of sleep?

Post subject: Amount of sleep? How much sleep does your 2 year get?
Archie has been a pest the last couple of weeks, christmas probably hasn't helped. we have stuck to our routine of chill out time downstairs, bath, story, bed. He is in bed at 7.30/8pm everynight he is great that he stays in bed and just chats away to himself but last night it was 10pm before he drifted off and 6am when he got up, I did the put back to bed routine but have now given in and just got up. I have tried cutting his naps but he ends up falling asleep at tea  , gonna try and keep him awake today and put him to bed earlier about 6.30pm/7pm so he should at least be asleep for 9pm.
Surely 8 hours is not enough sleep for a 2 year old? xx _________________

Post subject: i had this with sam, just before she dropped her naps, she was sleeping 30 minutes to an hour in the day (very occasionally 1 1/2) and then would take 2-3 hours to go to sleep on a night. so would go to bed between 7-8 and not go off till 9-10, then wake up at 6.
when she dropped the naps, she was really tired and miserable around 4pm, but i would just ride it out and she would be in bed at 6, sleeping til 6-7 the next day. now she doesnt seem to get so tired until 6, and goes to bed around 7, and is straight off. she usually gets up between half 6 and 7 in the week (cos thats when i get up) but can sleep as late as half 8 on a weekend. _________________

Post subject: Gonna have to be stronger with the daytime naps I think!
Its all just a hassle as gonna have to tincker with meal time to I think, as mark isn't home till 5 so we generally all have tea togther at 5/5.30pm. Also there is no way he would go to bed while Charlotte is up so gonna have to change her a bit too, luckily she sleeps 13 hours so not a problem. Nothing is never easy is it! How is sam now without naps? xx _________________

Post subject: Lucas has been a real pain with his sleeping too. Going to bed isnt a problem, he is normally asleep between 7-7.30pm but can wake anytime from 4am onwards! If i lay down with him, hw will go back to sleep but I want him to go to sleeping through so that I can get some sleep too. he used to sleep from 7pm til 6am which was great but i dont know if its his molars coming through that have started this or not. He also still has a daytime nap anywhere from 30mins to 2hrs so am trying to cut this out slowly as he becomes a pain later in the day if he is too tired or just falls asleep at 5pm and then wont go to bed at all!! Although we went to an afternnon party the other day so he had no nap at all and he slept through as he used to do so cant seem to win.

Post subject: Been out all day and the ride home was a nightmare trying to keep him awake and he is just lounging now, don't mind him having quite time but not sleeping.
Gonna do an easy tea I know he will eat and not fuss with as he is a monkey for eating when tired!!xx _________________

Post subject: she is a lot better now, sometimes if we have been out and have a bit of a drive to get home she will nod off in the car but wakes up as soon as i get her out.
the only problem is its a nightmare if i want to go anywhere with her on an evening as she will start to get tired and grumpy at about 6pm and by 7pm is just horrendous! sometimes my childminder will say she has asked to go in the buggy for a sleep, but she just sits there having 'quiet time' and i do it with her at home, i send her to her room to have a little nap, but she ends up just playing quietly. thats usually around 2pm. which is when she used to have a nap. _________________

Post subject: I know my lo isn't two yet but I start his bedtime routine at 6 and normally he is asleep by 7. Wakes around 7-7:30am (it was 9am the other day!) and still has a nap for about 2hrs in the morning. I still find that he sleeps better at night if he has had a good nap. Dreading him cutting it out because when he hasn't slept during the day he is awful by 4 and bedtime can't come soon enough! x

Post subject: Yeah my daughter goes to bed at about 7:45 after a bath, supper and bedtime story. She usually falls asleep straight away. she will get up anywhere between 7 and 8. She still has a short nap straight after lunchtimes (usually about an hour or so)
