Hi ladies. Mrs oz that's so good that poppy is up to that weight and is doing well u must be pleased she's gained a good amount, and getting smiles how lush I cannot wait for George to smile at me. Zee how did the school run go? Mine was not good! I set an alarm for 7 but cus George had a really bad night sleeping I slept in when he was sleeping so didn't take Yasmin to school as got up way to late. So today I've got a lovely mummy friend that is going to take her the rest of the wk and I will do the afternoon runs lets hope I can manage that! I feel such a rubbish mum at mo Sad

well I'm very sleep deprived little George likes to be awake at night and sleep in the day! If it was just him I would most defenatly be sleeping when he does but I have 2 other little monkeys so no such luck there!

Iv come out in a horrible rash everywhere that's called urticaria I think it's cus I'm run down and stressed that its come out its looks disgusting and is so itchy I was really worried at first when I didn't no what it was and I thought it could be contagious but luckily out if hours doc diagnosed it over the phone and its not contagious thank god.

I'm going to a baby weighing group today with my friend who has a 9 wk old so that should be good and nice to get out for a bit. I'm feeling quite low at mo so need to make sure I'm seeing my friends! I had post natal depression after Harry so I'm really hoping I don't get it again.

Hope everyone is getting on well with their new babies well and love to hear some updates x

He is here!!!!!!!!!!!! Edward James David Manning was born on 28th December weighing 8lb 11oz after a 26 hour labour and lots of slicing and dicing at the end but he is now here!!!!!!! Found it harder than I expected, had bad blues for about 6 days and we were rehospitalised for jaundice but all seems to be going well now and we are registering him today! Seems like you are all doing amazingly!
Congratulations to all of us - labour and motherhood is hard!!! Xxxx

Oh congratulations Heti! Make sure you write up your birth story when you get a chance, for us to have a good read. Well done - and yes it is all hard work, just don't listen to others who make out it is easy cos they are lying! lol! Excellent weight, hope you are healing up OK.

Charlene - great that you have a mummy friend to shift share. I couldn't wake up before 930 this morning, thankfully Oz has decided to take more time off work to help out or i would be stuck. You are not a bad mummy, it is hard work esp with lack of sleep.
Is there anything they can give you for the rash? Hope your trip to baby weighing went well. I too suffer from depression (went back on the ADs 3 weeks after i had Poppy, and am now having flashbacks of what happened) but went to my first group yday - it is hard to get out and mix but at least you are aware and forcing yourself to avoid getting ill. I am going to try going back to zumba tonight - my tummy feels fine now; although I don't feel 100% I am fed up of moping around and feeling sorry for myself so am trying to get back into my old routine. Are there any groups you can go to when OH is at home, so you can have some adult time too (just thoughts to try to avoid the PND again)

xx

Hey girls! I had pretty horrendous baby blues for about 6 days and although I had a good day yesterday I'm really scared of them coming back. How do you know the difference between he blues wit the hormone drop and it turning into pnd? That's what worries me most of all, especially when oh goes back to work!
I can't believe we all have our babas now and that we were all December mummies just! From going on this forum with our bfps to now being mums is so strange. Does anyone else miss being pregnant? I do ever single day and find myself so jealous of people who have it all to come. Lots of love xxx

Heti, personally speaking, I never had the blues. I had no emotions towards anyone or thing... nothing interested me and nothing excited me and I had no bond with Evie. Best way to describe my PND was that I 'flatlined' emotionally (this time I could feel that I was beginning to develop the same signs so was put back on the meds quickly, so it didn't develop). At your 6 week HV check up you will be given a questionnaire which will determine how you have coped and adapted.
One thing to remember though is being a mummy is VERY hard - your body is emotionally all over the place (9 months of hormones going within weeks is a shock to the system), sleep deprivation and trying to be the perfect mummy whilst trying to look like it is natural is a hard act to keep up. Don't be afraid of asking for help or venting off steam to friends / us... it is all very natural and OK. Every baby is different and we are all learners. Hope you are having a better day today

((hugs)) xx

Hello ladies, long time no update Embarassed.

Lovely Eli is 3 weeks today my god it has gone fast, he is doing well sleeps a lot but not complaining lol. He is such a good contented little boy. Had his hearing test today as he didnt pass the one at the hospital when he was born i was a bit worried but i think due to him coming feet first i would suspect he had a lot more pressure in his ears. All is fine so very relived.

Eli is nearly 8 lb now was 6lb 9oz born so has put on a good amount in 3 weeks : )

I am glad OH is still at home with me as he helps alot with Noah as in keeps him occupied and entertained so finding it quite easy at the minute. But i know as soon as his back i am going to feel the pressure lol.

Had my hair done today trying to look after myself a bit now, trying to lose the baby weight.

Glad everyone is well, and all babies are doing good, congrats to kelly and heti on the birth of there boys x

Hiya ladies..

Charlene the school run went brilliant the first day..OH kept wanting to help but I inisted I needed to do it myself.
The second day not so good as Tilly decided to have an explosive nappy 20mins before we wer due to set off so had to do a quick bath and re dress Shocked but we made it to school just in time Smile
Oliver loves being at school again too.

Heti..huge congratulations on your baby boy. The first days and weeks readjusting to a new family member is never easy especially when its you first.

Char..glad Eli is doing well..hes a little cutie Smile gaining well too..sounds like he's got a good appitite on him Shocked Smile

Tilly's doing great..not had her weighed for over a week but shes a right chunk now. She was a little over 8lb nearly 2wks back so we'll see this tues when we go to baby clinic.
Shes smiling now..started at about 3 and half week which we thought was really early..but theres no denying it..she was smiling away at the grandparents then again when daddy came home from work Very Happy
Shes cooing a lot too..and seems to love watching her brother play.
Shes brilliant during the night just waking once for a feed then back off to sleep Smile she seems to be a grazer during the morning and the evening. She is total opposite to what oliver was like when he was a baby..she seems like a right independent little sole Laughing

Ohh and congratulations to Ekelly too who turned out to be a January mummy and gave birth to baby Oliver Smile (you'll always be a december mummy to us Wink )

Thought I would write about my birth story while I get 5 minutes, although it may take longer!
After a few days of painless contractions on Thursday 27th Dec (my due date) my amazing midwife came on her day off to check me out as they were getting more regular and starting to (what I thought at the time!!!!!!!) hurt! She gave me a sweep at 12pm and then things started to hot up!
We went to bed, timing the contractions on my ipad and they then started to get more painful and more regular. I had a couple of baths and at 8pm we went to triage, to be told I was…. ONE cm dilated and I had to go home!
I ran another bath and had two hours writhing on the bed, slow running steps seeming to help as I leant over and then went back to triage at 10pm to be told I was 4cm woo hoo!
I was then finally given gas and air which made it lots lots better and the pool was ran for me…there started an idyllic birth…music playing, lavender oil burning and me giggling in between contractions, calling my mum, talking to the midwife about my holiday…fantastic!
Until it all went wrong.. after about 6 hours in the pool I was still only 5cm dilated and it transpired Edward had turned and was now back to back. I was rushed to delivery suite where I started vomiting a lot and I asked for an epidural, then, as the canula was being put in, stupidly changed my mind and asked for remi instead. Looking back I so should have just taken the epidural, because 26 hours later I was still contracting!
When the time came to push Edward out it was a bit of a blur. He was losing his heart rate so I had to push him out within half an hour and one midwife turned to 4, then 5, then 2 doctors as well.
They told me they needed to cut me, well the lady was very scissor happy and did lots of cutting, then forceps were getting ready and Edward was born at 1.54pm on the 28th December.
Afterwards, I lost a lot of blood and so although Edward was put straight onto my chest I cant really remember the first 2 hours after the birth, and I don’t feel as though I properly held him until then.
Both me and my hubby were pretty traumatised by what happened and even though John wanted at least 2 children he has said he wouldn’t want me to do it again after how bad it went. Now it has all faded, I would love to do it again, I miss being pregnant every day and the thought of never having a newborn again (hard though I found it in the first couple of wks with baby blues) makes me really sad. I think if I ever were to do it again I would definitely just go in and ask for an epidural straight away, though I know deep down I want the ending to the perfect pool birth we started with.
I have NO idea how ppl have a newborn AND a child, especially if they do get the blues. I could barely look after myself in those days never mind a baba and a 5 year old, and every trip out must take a lifetime, I feel it does already with Edward! But people cope and do really well, so I guess I would too!
Edward is absolutely gorgeous, but has started to cry A LOT now, and im not always sure why, which is really frustrating. When we brought him home he was VERY jaundiced and we had to be readmitted, so those first few days bedtimes weren’t a problem as he slept pretty much all the time! Now, we try to get him in bed for 7 but it takes til 9 for him to stop shouting and to go to sleep! We are trying infacol to see if that helps…fingers crossed!
hope your babas are all being good for you, does anyone else really struggle with bedtimes? Mine just seems to hate lying down! x

Oh Heti, bless you. It's gutting when your birth plan / expectations of giving birth are so different to what you experience. How are you feeling now? Have you healed up well? I was cut with Evie and had healed so quickly i couldn't believe it. After this, for your next baby you will be listened to and so pain relief will be offered to how you want it. Don't rule everything out yet - we took 2 years to decide about having another. Plus with his heart rate dropping you would hopefully get more care *incase* things didn't go quickly enough.

How is Edward doing now? Evie also cried a lot. It was terrible - I had to arrange shifts of people to be with me during her worst hours of the day. Make sure you have people around you to help. And yes - you would cope having 2, having the first is the biggest life change that someone would ever go through, second time round you are already used to broken nights and by knowing what to do means you don't worry or stress as much. As a teacher it is also very hard to get used to the idea of no structure and having a slower pace and less social contact with others - every teacher I know struggles with this, so take your time hun.

For lying down, try propping the basket up at one end, or rolling a towel and placing around the edges of the inside of the cot to prop him on his side a little bit?

Glad to hear babies are doing well otherwise. FB pics of those I see are so cute - lovely to see them all growing and fattening up lovely! lol!

Poppy is doing well, gaining expected weight, is now 7lb 14oz, and has a good routine. Last feed at 730pm then bed... then one at 11pm and then one at 5am (each time back in bad asleep within 1/2 hr) until she is up again at 7am. She is now chattering with us and only time gets upset is when food isn't there quickly enough or is put in her car seat - and she has an almighty temper fit at that one! Haha!

Been referred now for her tongue tie, after I had a blazing row with the paed cos I wanting referring for consultation. He kept refusing but he hadn't even looked at her - then he took one look and said it needed doing! Grr! Nurse put in an incident form about it as I was furious at being spoken to like he did. Even my OH was shocked and he is the most laid back chap ever normally!

Hope everyone is managing to keep warm is this delightful weather!

Much love xx

I love how little Poppy is, it really saddens me already that Edward is putting on so much weight and getting bigger, i just wanted him to stay tiny forever! i hope her tongue tie gets sorted, that mustnt be nice for her!
I will definitely try the elevated cot - that sounds a great idea!

Aww, Congratulations again on your baby boy. Edward is such a lovely name. It sounds like you had a pretty rough time though, but don't let it put you off Smile
I found with Tilly much easier than my first. Oliver was very much like Edward...not sure if its a boy thing or a first born thing. I think as new mum's you can't help but fuss and feel bad if baby is adjitated..but honestly (and I only know this now with my second) just relax. If you have checked all the essentails; food nappy hot/cold etc then sometimes its just a case of kiss, cuddle and lights out! lol.
Tilly was fussing for 2 hrs the other night after a genrally grumpy day. I could do no right lol, so I just gave her a kiss and turned the lights out and off to sleep she went Shocked They can get over stimulated especially at about 1mth of age and it get them all fussy and grumpy.
Sounds like your doing a fab job..try not to worry to much about getting them into a routine..get them into your routine. It'll take time for them to adjust to day and night..but it'll happen soon enough. Smile

MrsOz when will Poppy get her tounge tie done? She's doing well feeding? She's defo gaining well Smile
I've just realised that Matilda has a slight upper lip tie Sad I noticed this past few weeks my nipples getting really sore and she makes this clicking noise whilst she's feeding like she's loosing suction. Someone mentioned lip tie to me so had a look and it appears thats what it is. I doubt they'll do anything so i'm in no rush to go to the HV about it..i'll wait till she comes for the 6/8wks check. We're just trying to get the positioning right for feeding and it does take a while but she's a patient lady so not to bad.It is however causing her to spit-up a lot..especially at night as my let down is so fast..she can't handle it Sad
She is however gaining well..from 7lb 7 she's now 9lb 7 (well she was last tuesday) she is turning into a right chubbers. She weighs the same as Emma's little boy Oliver born lol Shocked

Anyhoo, I hope to catch up properly soon. Its not often i'm on the laptop and I only tend to do quicky replies from my phone when i'm feeding Laughing

Take care Very Happy

I agree about the over stimulation; I always wondered why people would cover prams up with a blanket when they wanted their baby to sleep and now I get it!

Excellent weight gain zee, Tilly is such a smiler! I am waiting for the appt for Poppy's tongue tie. She was only able to feed from one type of teat when in hospital (they did try her on them all) but other than that no probs. My concerns is more when it comes to learning to speak and having to go through Speech and language therapy and not being understood - I see the problems this creates later in school so am keen that if she needs it doing it is done. It is a tight one at the front so it is really obvious. I have not hear dof lip tie before. Hope you find a comfy poistion with ease.

Heti - I will PM you with how we got into routine rather than filling the waves up with! How are you doing now?

How is everyone else getting on?

xx
