Anyone here used metformin? X

Yeah I have been on it for about 3 years now. My IVF Dr this last attempt was going to put me on it but I told her I already was.

It depends on what kind ur on and how much. I started on 1500mg, 500mg 3 times a day and then when it didn't make me ov I upped it myself to 2000mg a day. When I concieved naturally I caught on the third month of taking it.

I stayed on it till 8 weeks of the pg and then came off it and then when my son reached 6 months old and I started piling weight on again I started taking 2000mg and it didn't have any effect on my ov. Now I am on 1000mg a day all in one dose in the evening and I have no side effects this time round. The first time I used it gave me the runs and I felt horrible but it was worth it!!

What make are you on. The actualy metformin is worse for side affects. If its Glucophage then its better. Also if you are on say 1500mg a day then take 500mg with lunch and 1000mg before you go to bed so the side effects are lessened. Also, you can get a slow release version if it makes you feel really gruesome lol!!!

Awww Alowicious I cant imagine how frustrating and disheartening it must be to have such long cycles. Completely understandable that youre not ready to go again yet, it makes it even harder I think knowing you are running out of options. We are much in the same boat once these 7 frosties are gone thats it for us, there comes a point like you say when you have to say ok we've done all we can and no one can say we didnt try! I just feel like its become another part of our routine having to go through this, sometimes I feel like Im abnormal because its like Ive just switched off my emotions to it all I dont particularly feel anything any more. Im not thinking anything going into this cycle, Im not positive and Im not negative just going to do it and see what happens.

Thanks hun, it's horrible setting a finishing date. I know when I reach it I will want to try again but my DH will say no as he doesn't want to use all our savings.I know what you mean about switching the feelings off, I think I am going to try to do that on my next attempt because it just gets too much and it's all I can focus on. I am feeling very antisocial at the moment and both my SILs are due this month and I know in a couple of weeks I will have to go out and buy two new baby cards and presents and be all happy to them on the phone when I just want to curl up and cry Confused Even now when I know that I can't try for a while all I can think is somebody trying to tell me something, that one child is your lot?? am I supposed to be doing this? will they find swimmers if they do a biopsy on DH?? it's just all too much. Wish our brains had an off switch lol!!!
Hugs x x

Thats part of the reason we are saying enough is enough after our frozens have gone, after this round we will have spent coming up for £9000 and our savings are shrinking rapidly. Im not prepared to be one of those couples you see in magazines and on telly that say theyve been trying 10+ yrs and spent £25,000 etc..

Hi,

I was prescribed metformin a few years ago when diagnosed with PCOS. Then in July last year was told by a different hospital it was an awful drug to take and that i never had PCOS!!!!

What have you had it prescribed for??

Sorry youre feeling like sh*t Faye Sad Just keep focused on the end goal and itll get you through.

Im getting a bit concerned about this weather situation, according to the forecast we are due snow Monday night into Tuesday and our appointment is Thursday. I love snow so much but I really am hoping and praying it doesnt manage to mess up our travel for getting to the clinic. Any other time I would have loved it.
