Post subject: Maternity pay for self employed
Hi
Can anyone help me i have been working for my current boss for 16 years and my baby is due in January. He is selling the shop i work in and i am going to buy it from him meaning i will be self employed .. Where do i stand on maternity pay or do i not get any?

im not sure where you would stand, as you need to have been employed for 26 weeks to get SMP from your employer. you might be able to claim maternity allowance through the jobcentre
