We live approx 2 hrs from London by train.
We went in March for 2 days and my Dh loved it. We also ate in a far place in convent garden. I have found some really cheap same day train tickets and wondered if you would travel 2 hours to go and have something to eat ? Seems a bit over the top but my dh loved it so much i wanted to book the train tickets as a surprise. _________________

I would go and spend the day and get something to eat. Can't you spend more time there? _________________

We've been for the day loads of times when have found cheap tickets, and love it! Live in Warrington so 2 hours by train too. Usually get the train at about 9am so get there for 11ish, then get the one that leaves Euston at 8.20pm. Gives plenty of time to wander the shops, parks, Covent garden and have something to eat.
Go for it

We can get a train about 8am get us there for 10am then was thinking of getting a train back about 5/6pm as would need to pick our daughter up on the way home.
I think we could have a good time in a few hours _________________

Try London Midland, they often do off peak day returns for about £19. In the week i think its after 9:30am and before 4:30pm, or after 6pm.
So you could still get a good 6 hours _________________

I've got them for £12 each way before, you really can't say no .
Have you booked them? Know they don't stick around very long at all. When are you going?
