i have today had my final meeting with my work place and confirmed that i wont be going back after my maternity leave, i am hopeing to start in a new job (when i find one) fairly early next year but i am wondering do i have to wait the six months i would be having as maternity leave before i could do this?

I would think it would affect your SMP if you went back earlier. _________________

you can start a new job at any time, but your maternity pay would stop. _________________

right ok thanks ladies......my boss told me she doesnt need my notice of leaving until end of my mat leave so will speak to her in the new year i think x _________________

if you werent planning on going back to work at all then no you wouldnt need to tell them until 28 days before your ML was due to finish.
dont forget that you still accrue holiday pay whilst on ML so any you havnt taken you will get paid for. _________________

remember tho, if your still employed by the other company and you start a new one there are various tax laws you have to abide by, be careful you don't end up paying tax twice. _________________
