Post subject: Cooled boiled water in the mornings
On the baby cereal I use for my baby it says to make with cooled boil water. I was wondering how others quickly boil water & allow it to cool in the morning?

My LO is starving in the morning so he has half a bottle first but the water is still very hot after the bottle.

Would it be ok to boil the water the night before and stand it in the fridge once cool.

No cos A. It'll have produced bacteria again by then (although dunno if thats an issue at 8 months) and B. It needs to be hot to soften the cereal. Can u not make it when you first get up then do the bottle, etc? Or just blow on it for a bit lol x

or make it with the cooled boiled water and place the bowl in another bowl of cold water to cool it down quicker? I do this when making fresh milk.

When you boil the water to make the bottle, pour the amount you need to make the cereal into a bowl and leave to cool, it will only be a small amount so will cool pretty quickly while you give him his bottle. By the time your making the cereal it will have cooled enough to make it up so just add the cereal mix to the already cooled water in the bowl.

Thanks for your replies.

Jennaxhx, it does say to use cooled boiled water (we use the cow & gate cereal, so it might be different on other makes).

Anyway I've also got in some cereal that we mix with baby milk, so we can use this at the weekend when there's nobody up early to boil the kettle and to allow it to cool.
