Post subject: Infections, dental work and TTC I went to the dentist today to have a temporary crown on a root a canal. He said he was unable to finish it bc it was so infected and deep so he is sending me to a specialist. I also have another tooth that he wants the specialist to do a root retreat and he told me I have another tooth that looks bad. I have a family history of weak and bad teeth. I have heard that infections can make you infertile. Anyone know if this is true. I have heard of women having UTIs and yeast infections that have gotten pregnant just don't know if it is the same with infections in the mouth. I got a pos opk the other day so I am really curious. Good news is I see the specialist Friday and am finishing up 2nd round of antibiotics. Dentist said that is perfect timing. I made sure the dentist knows we are ttc and that my OBGYN knows I have been fighting infections in my mouth. I was just curious if anyone experienced dental problems while ttc and how it worked out for you.

Post subject: I've never heard that either. I know you need to make sure they're dealt with as they can only go worse as teeth can't restore/fix themselves, but that's a general health thing.
My mum was told her whole life she had weak teeth and had all kinds of issues with it, even before she had me and she went on to have 3 healthy kids. So I don't think it ever affected her in any way, it was just really painfull etc at times, both on the teeth and wallet. So I'd focus for now on getting it sorted as there's nothing worse than tooth aches. Good luck with the specialist! Posted: Wed Dec 19, 2012 12:24 pm
Post subject: the only infections that can make you infertile are STD's you are fine with all other kinds of infections.
However if you are actively trying some antibiotic are not baby friendly and let them know before X-rays are done. It may be better to put a hold on the TTC it you are sorted out. Posted: Thu Dec 20, 2012 8:18 pm
Post subject: I don't know if there is a link but I have awful teeth. I've had abscesses, infections, a cap, crowns, one missing etc. Last time I was there I said would it be easier to take them all out and he said yes but I was too young! That's how bad they are. But I've got two kids so no problems in that respect. Hope that helps x
