Post subject: Toddler with Sudden Cough - Advice please Hi,
My 2 yr old little girl hasnt been sleeping well lately - waking up frequent times when before she would only stir a few times. Last night was the worst - she refused her milk (very unusual, just wanted to lie down with a story) spent most of the nite coughing which kept her awake. Today she doesnt seem herself, wants lots of cuddles and not really wanting to eat. She seems warm to touch but no visible fever just now. Anyone got advice on how i can make her days and nights more comfortable? She has only recently got over a nasty cold. I did take her to Docs as she had a cough for a few weeks and didnt seem to be going away. Doc checked her chest and said it was fine, just a head cold. Should i take her back? Post subject: Hi,
Yes she is tolerating Calpol, but not cough syrup. Spits that out. Last time she came down with a sudden cough, turned out to be a bad chest infection, her temp at Doctors was nearly hitting 40c!! So im understandably worried!! After her nap she woke up grumpy and tried speaking, voice came out croaky so i think she has a sore throat as well as cough. Will keep her topped up on Calpol and monitor her temp, its all i can do! Lorna Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 3:00 pm
Post subject: Hi,
My daughter still isnt better. She has refused her bedtime milk for 4 nights in a row. We have tried it in a sippy cup, she's just not interested. Normally she loves her milk at bedtime, she cant get it dwn fast enough!! Since posting last, her voice has got increasing hoarse and is starting to refuse solid food. But is drinking which is a help. When she coughs, its like she is struggling for air until she coughs again. Also think she has a sore throat as wont tolerate anything warm/hot. She has been practically living on yoghurts and custard!! The worrying thing is when she is healthy she loves cheese. She would have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if she could!! Last 2 days she has hardly touched it!! I am thinking of trying to get an appointment with Doctor over next 2 days. Do you think im overreacting? Dont want to waste Doctors time if its just a sore throat and slight cough. Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 6:05 pm
Post subject: Thanks,
think i will phone them tmorr. She's getting a slight runny nose as well. So have raised her bed in the hope it will help her tnite. Will also put some vicks on her chest. The worrying thing is that even when she is full of cold, the only thing she will eat is cheese. For her not to be interested in it, its not like her at all. Posted: Fri Jan 04, 2013 7:50 am

Post subject: Hi,
She's ok tday. We had to take her to a+e last night as she kept throwing up her iphrhen. Chest is clear according to Doc. Said she was gagging on medication but didnt even check her throat! She's still coughing but not as much. What i dont understand is, if her chest is clear why is she still having chesty cough? Now the husband is getting ill, runny nose, horrible cough and running a fever! but he wont go to Doc!!! Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:46 am
Post subject: A chesty cough can just be a mucus build up. But from what i have read it sound very much like she had a touch ocof tonsillitus. You described both my girls down to a T. When.they get it x Lasts around 10 days.
Hope she is feeling better now x _________________ ![]()
