DD is 7 months and 2 weeks. And obv every mum thinks there baby is clever but I'm sure my little one is above average! She sat up Completly unsupported at 4 months. She makes ' ga,na,da,dee,ca & kee ' sounds. She claps. Not
Copying but when you just sing ' clap hands daddy comes...' without me even clapping she knows. She waves. Blows kisses & dances when music comes on! I'm so proud off her n obv if it is average then that's fine. But every time I say look how clever she is my sister always says silly things .. Like there not words. Only sounds. N it's quite normal for a kid her age. She is a nursery nurse and quite big headed about it tbh. N I'm sick of her puttin my baby down Sad
I don't have loads of experience with other babies but just read on Internet what they develop etc n she always seems a month ahead x

oh hun dont let her put you down, your lo sounds completely normal and probably more forward then most babies her age.

my little girl was saying cat (tat) by 8 months, and she definitely meant cat as she was crawling after my moms cat and shouting it! Laughing oh and she doesnt shut up now, so sounds like your in for a chatterbox aswell.

your little girl sounds a lot like my daughter and everyone (HV, nurses, doctors, nursery staff, people on the street) say how clever she is, but to me she is just my daughter and I dont really notice it unless she is with other children her own age and she really stands out.

i tend not to say things to people about how clever she is because i dont like all the 'my child is cleverer then yours' competitions, and because every child develops differently it can make some parents worry that there child isnt 'normal'

I think she is very clever, dont let your sister put you down. She is advanced by all the babies I have seen (a fair few, my sister and friends...) and its only natural you feel proud of her. Just ignore her.

when evelyn was a baby she took ages to roll over, crawl, walk ect. and there was a mum at a baby group ( who i still see) who was always telling us about her daughter who was so advanced she walked by 9 months we had to listen to it every week Mad . now they are all toddlers my daughter can write her name and other words if you spell them to her, she can count and do easy maths but the moment i mention any of her achievements this women changes the subject!

be proud of what your daughter can do and dont let anyone say otherwise!

theres a woman i know like that her OH and my OH are friends and her baby and Kieran were due teh same day! Kieran came a couple of weeks early, but since birth she has constantly been comparing them!! even to the amount of milk they drank n was always proud her LO ate more, even though ta birth Kieran was 5lb 1oz and her LO was 8lb 4oz, so yeh she probably needed more!
the Kieran had a few probs and was late at doing everything but it was constantly oh is kieran doing this yeh my lo can to this this this and this!! and she is younger than Kieran (by 3 weeks!!) grr lol then its potty training and she started with ooh my lo is going on the toilet now, hows kieran doing? i loved being able to say yeh, he doing fine, been out of nappies for ages day and night!! D that shut her up!! lol xXx

I had a friend who thought the more weight her son gained the better she was as a mom Shocked she kept bragging about how well he was doing as he had crossed the 50th centile line, and tried to make me feel bad as sam was only on the 25th (even though she had been born on the 9th)

She sounds quite advanced. Jamie crawled at four months and sat by 5 and I know he did it before most babies.

However, and don't take this the wrong way, perhaps she feels your boasting and its getting to her. I never said anything when I was with people because people don't like it and feel you're being competitive. I know you're proud but perhaps you're going on about it all the time without realising and she's had enough and this is her way (although not a very nice one) of telling you

Didn't mean it in a nasty way. Just that I think we all tend to talk about our kids loads without even realising and she may be jealous

Post subject: that's not nice
My mom does the same thing! My dd is 3 months old and started responsive smiling at 3 weeks! Ever since then she's been a very social baby and loves to "talk" with me. I point out her achievements and mom is like, "Oh that's normal for her age," or "she only did it once so that's not really her 'being able' to do it." I'm like, mom, she rolled over at 2 months! That IS above average. And smiling at 3 weeks, on a regular basis, IS above average. She didn't believe me over the phone that it was a true smile because she said it was just gas but when we went for a visit and she saw my dd look at me and give a wide, toothless grin, over and over, she finally had to admit it was real! It seemed like it killed her to admit it! For some reason, I think people just get jealous when they see how well you and/or your baby are doing. I think it's awfully immature myself and think, if you love me, you would WANT me and my baby to be doing good, right? Don't let her get to you hun. Sounds like your baby IS passing milestones faster than average and YOU know your baby better than anyone! Good luck and keep up the good work!
