Post subject: Ovulation testing but no pregnancy???? I wonder if someone could help. We have been trying for years now and when i went for my last smear and asked about getting pregnant they suggested ovultion testing for 4 month then if nothing happened come back. Well i have been doing it now for 3 months and it seem that i ovulate around the 13-14 day on my 26th cycle so we have been doing baby dancing around that time but still nothing.
I had a cheapy ovulation testing i was doing alongside the clear blue ones and they didnt come up apart from very lightly the last month. Are they very reliable the cheapy ones. I havent been on here just to relax me more as i was getting so worked up seeing people having bfp and i was getting no where. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Post subject: All I can say is get yourself back to the dr. You have been trying for long enough to have tests done and at the very least they will reassure you that nothing is wrong, or if they find something that is then you can move forward with getting it sorted! Don't lose hope, it took my friend 3yrs to conceive (tests showed there was nothing wrong ith them) and she now has a healthy little boy. I'm also not having much luck this time despite using opk's and bd-ing at the right time. I guess it's just one of those things. I wonder how much stress has to do with it. You are relatively calm for the first few months and then if nothing happens then you get really panicky that it will never happen and let it dominate your whole life (at least that's how I have reacted to trying for over a yr!). Anywayim rambling now, good luck and I hope you get that BFP really soon x

Post subject: Thank you for your reply Mrs Zargon. I have 1 more month to try and then will be going back to test to make sure everything is healthy there, it was only november i had a smear test and that was all ok so ot sure what else they will test for. They did say about sexually transmitted ones that dont show any symptoms then if that shows nothing then go from there. I was also told about these bloody test to check my hormone level once at the begining of my af then 21 days after this was basing it on a 30 days cycle as every women has that so this stupid doctor recons. Not my normal doc i have to say, he specialist in male fertility so it would be good dealing with him. I do think that the first thing they will say is my OH to lose weight which he knows he needs to do but cant be bothered as he is so selfish in that way.
This month af was 28 days and only 2 days so am tempted to test as i never had it 2 days and not being over heavy either still red blood sorry tmi. Posted: Sun Jan 20, 2013 2:21 pm

That might help you have an idea what tests they might do. _________________

Post subject: Thank you KazM. I have no worries about having test and what they are for. I do think that my OH being overweight has something to do with it as so far i have had alot of test to make sure im ovulating ect and all comign back clear so can only think and told him he needs to have sperm count but we will see. He seems to think we have all the time in the world but we are past 35 so time is getting limited but he has no idea he is a man after all. We will see in the next month for the ovulation test and go from there but i expect that we will be going doctors anyway. He will hvae to go on a diet first and get a sperm count im sure but im not sure he will do that.

Post subject: I know KazM but try telling men that. It is like his ego wont let him be the one that might have a problem even. I have stopped talking about it atall now and stopped taking pregnacare as was mucking my AF around making them longer sometime so never knew if it was 26 days or 28 days.
Im not sure about this month i only had bleed for 2 days and am needing to wee alot but not sure if that might be due to the cold weather so will see by the end of the week I dont want to read into anything too much and havent even taken a test to check as i hate the dissapointment. Post subject: I think men get far too tied up in the idea that their manliness is somehow linked to their sperm count
I don't think being overweight affects male fetility as much as it does for women, as for us excess body fat raises oestrogen and messes up our cycles but for men its a bit more subtle and having slightly high or low testosterone doesn't stop sperm production, drinking regularly does affect testosterone a lot over time though, hence the term "brewers droop " One of the best ways to boost male testosterone levels might be lots of sex I wouldn't pressure him on the weight front though as it may have the opposite effect,it's a bit of a sensitive subject for a lot of people , maybe just introduce subtle meal changes and try and avoid having things in that he'll snack on rahter than lableling it as a "diet", sometimes you have to be sneaky , my OH is a nightmare with one brand of bread, he'll come in from work and eat 5 or 6 slices before his shower, 4 or 5 more with his meal and he has sandwiches for lunch too ( 6 slices) you're looking at over 1500 calories on bread alone a day If you're doing it together he might not feel like he's being singled out as having a "problem " Posted: Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:09 pm
Post subject: Thank you ladies always put my mind at rest. I am going to leave it and said that we have to have sex every other day and tolod hiom he will enjoy to which a smile spread along his face. Interesting Nat that his weight would not affect it as i thought it would. Im not going to tell him that though.
We will see. Just one more question with this month having only 2 days of bleed and them not being very heavy do you think i should test. I am weeing alot more than normal. When af is there i need to go loo more often but it seems to be carring on days after ive finished. Might see how we go and if it does not calm down i might go doctor. Post subject: Any abnormal periods or strange symptoms I'd always say test just to be on the safe side
So many women get bleeding around when they'd be due a period and are actually pregnant , that its always worth ruling it out If its not that then it could be a UTI brewing Yeah its annoying as well that all the things we get told not to do don't seem to be as bad for men The weight thing can affect mens libido though and the article I was reading yesterday was saying that over time it can result in a cycle of depression over body image and lowered sex drive and the combination of those can lower testosterone, which then creates this vicious cycle of lowering libido etc. My OH is a bit of a yo-yo'er as far as weight goes and I see a big difference in him as he gains weight he gets more negative aboput everything, he doesn't want to do things, stops exercising which makes things worse , his sex drive drops Everybody feels better after losing a few pounds though don't they so it makes sense to try , plus theres the obvious health benefits and if your OH is going to be a father then he'll need to be in good shapes for running round after a toddler Posted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 10:06 am
Post subject: I have said if he want to be a father then he will have to lose the weight to run around after a kid or kids as i could have twins as neither of my siblings have had twins and there is only me left with no kids. Also we have two dogs - springer and border collie so both active dogs as well.
Im not sure about testing but i did weight myself yesterday as i had been losing weight and over christmas ive put on half a stone i didnt think i ate that much lol all those sweets i suppose. I was shocked from 11 stone to 11 stone 6 and i never gained weight that much before and so quickly. Im not sure what to think about it. I do dogs walking as my business and was quiet pleased with my weight lost as i had lost a stone and that has taken about 6 months so it was steady losing weight.
