Post subject: awful nappy rash!
My daughter has had terrible nappy rash for months. I've tried prescribed creams and store bough, changed brand of nappy and everything else

What's left to try? I'm at my wits end, my poor girly had had enough to deal with!! Xx

Have you tried switching other products ? Sometimes babies get eczema just in their nappy area , or an allergy type reaction so it might be worth trying hypo allergenic bath products and just a very simple cream like the aqueaous one and leaving her nappy off as much as possible, I know one of mine who just had a tiny bit of dry eczema on her face used to get terrible nappy rash that all the usual stuff didn't work on and switching bath products helped hers, in the end I had to get some special soap from boots which was the only thing that cleared it up.
It wasn't baby soap the pharmacist recommended it , I would have never got soap as I thought of it as too drying Question but this stuff was really good and quite moisturising , can't remember what it was called now though Embarassed
Oh and also some food allergies can trigger it, so it might be worth doing a food diary and seeing if there's any links when she has a flare up x

Yes I use oilatum now on doctors recommendations. She's been on very strong anti biotics in hospital recently as she had suspected meningitis and I some how think they have triggered it off as I usually get things when I've been on anti biotics.
Thank you xx

Yeah could be as the anti B's can kill off the good bacteria too , poor little girl, it makes them miserable doesn't it .
I had the oilatum for my youngest and it helped her a lot as hers wasn't too bad ,made the bath lethal though Rolling Eyes Laughing but my DD had to get some really horrible greasy stuff for her daughter called diprobase ointment, they first used it when she ended up being hospitalised because her skin was so bad Shocked it had started on her nappy area and spread down her legs and looked like she'd been scalded it was so red, and it was bleeding from her scratching, nothing the GP gave her helped, so they literally covered her in this stuff and bandages for 2 days and it really helped, she had to bath her in it then put more on and its pretty horrible because its very greasy and come off on clothes but it did the trick and she'd had problems for months and months before using that , you can get it in a cream or gel as well which isn't as greasy Question
If its from a bacterial imbalance though from the anti B's then maybe getting her to eat some live yoghurt might help as it rebalances the bacteria in the gut , some docs recommend it for helping with thrush in the nappy area too x

i know this might be a long shot but my little one was the same nappy rash for 5 months caused by her being aligic to the normal baby milk (now have her on lactos-free milk )

other than that i have no idea (she could have an allergy against her own urin and stool's (i was the same as a baby from what my mother said)

I completely agree! I was actually just about to post this myself, but it looks like you beat me to the draw Laughing
