Post subject: Lunch ideas for baby
Hi, my 11.5 month old has finally started chewing a bit better and has managed cheese spread sandwiches and banana sandwiches. He loves his fruit and often eats this at lunch but I'm really stuck for simple ideas for lunch. I don't like him having too much bread because of the salt content. Does anybody have any ideas that are really quick to make (he's very impatient at waiting), are healthy and not too difficult to chew.

cheese salad, (so lumps of cheese, cucumber, tomato, pitta

beans and sausage (you can get those tins hich just need warming up)

scrambled egg and waffle

mashed potato, chicken pieces, peas

macroni cheese

anything you have just mashed up a bit Smile

My LO loves orzo pasta. If you are not familiar with it, it is a bit like rice in size. Takes about 7 mins to cook and you can mix it with lots of things. I usually mix in pesto and parmasan or a little homemade tomato based sauce and also tuna or cheese or just some unsalted butter.

Also, omelettes and homemade thick veg and lentil soups.

Lola has a thing for malt loaf!
I tend to give her dairy with lunch as she went off milk around 9 months! Xx

dont worry if he doesnt, my daughter didnt like anything with odd textures, like scrambled egg and jelly. But loves it now.

I usually cook up carrots in sticks, pasta tubes and peas, I over cook the pasta and carrots so they are soft, make loads on one day and reheat the leftover the next.
Supermarkets sell mixed chopped veg in bags, that's good to have in as its already prepped, just need a little cooking.
Root veg chips are good too e.g. sweat potato peeled and chipped, boiled up then drained and a little olive oil added, I put these into batches and freeze it, when I want it I defrost in advance and stick in the oven.
