Post subject: big bed issues!
My son is 20mths and been in his cot bed for 3 weeks. Initially he was fine (aside form an occasional fall!) However this last week he has been a wee monkey-he has obv realised he can just get up and out of it as and when he pleases! So far we have had getting out of bed at half 5 and then last night he woke himself up coughing and so was up at 3 and half 5. He always sleeps right through so this is proving hard going, esp as he is waking my 3 yr old too.
At the minute we are just taking him back to his bed, giving hi a cuddle and then settling him down. Initially he kept getting out of bed but this last few nights he has stayed after being tucked back in so I guess that's some progress!! I am just wondering if you have any ideas/strategies as to how we can get him to stay in bed all night!
Thank you!

Hi, can I ask if there was a particular need to change him to a bed? If not, he's still very young, might be worth putting the sides back on!! My lo is 26 months now and wont be taking the sides off til he's physically too big to squeeze in!!

We chose to put him in a big bed as he had been sleeping in one whilst we were away on holiday and had been fab in it. I was already concerned that he was waking himself up as he was getting stuck with the constraints of the sides. My daughter came out of her cot at the same age so its not something we think we were too quick with. Since writing this post, he has become a little ore settled when putting him to bed thankfully (though still not quite as fab as he used to be!) but we are still working on the night time and very early morning rises Confused I am hoping perseverance is the key here however I did think he would have got the hint by now!
