Post subject: pregancy weight gain
hey has a lot of people have been asking this question including my self about how much weight we should gain so i thought id look in to it so i hope this helps people hopfully one of you lovely forum leaders can make this a sticky post if every one finds it usefull

BMI
if you have a bmi of 20 or less you should aim to gain between -28-40 pounds
if you have a bmi of 20 -26 you should aim to gain 25 -35 pounds
if you have a bmi of 26 and above you should aim to gain 15-25 pounds

aim for gradual pregnacy weight gain but every one diffrent so dont worry to much if you put on more in one week and less in another every ones diffrent

heres a link to work out ya bmi http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

just thought i would add this in

how pregnacy weight gain is made up
BABY-6-8 pounds
PLANCENTA-1.5 pounds
FLIUDS- 2-3 ponds
UTERUS-2 pounds
STORAGE OF MATERNAL FATS-4-6 pounds
BREASTS- 1-2 POUNDS
BLOOD VOLUME -3-4 PONDS

your proberly expect to put on 4-6 ponds in first trimester then puting on a average of a pound a week in the 2nd and 3rd trimester rember has well you can have a extra 300 colories a day in the 3rd trimester which is has much has eating 2 piese of toast i hope this helps you ladies oh and rember the bit i have wrote bout how weight is made up is trou out the whole pregnacy xxx

it will be on ur pregnancy notes - the mw will have worked it out when u first found out

if u cant find it go to http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

but it has to be ur weight from the start of pregnancy x x x

If you have a fast matabolism any theories of how much weight you should/shoudn't gain goes right out the window!! Laughing
I have an extremely fast metabolism (confirmed by docs after investigations as to why I have a slightly higher than average pulse rate!) and despite me eating like there is no tomorrow and an ever-growing baby bump, I have put on 2 pounds since getting pregnant! Midwife thinks I will only put on actual baby weight which I am not complaining about! I just think, as long as your midwife is happy and you and baby are healthy, I wouldn't worry what your body is doing! It's only doing what bubba wants it to! xxx
